Job Description: Onondaga Community College is accepting applications from individuals qualified to teach Mathematics courses. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES College-level teaching of Mathematics courses ranging from intermediate algebra through differential equations and statistics. Prepare and present lectures. Meet with students as needed to answer questions. Respond to student queries (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner. Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams. Compute grades and submit them on time. Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in mathematics or a related field from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalent with at least 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) in graduate-level courses strongly related to mathematics, at least 6 of which are graduate-level mathematics. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Teaching experience in a community college including instruction at the developmental level. A strong record of academic excellence complimented by demonstrated teaching effectiveness with students who have widely varying mathematical backgrounds and learning styles. Proven ability with the use of technology to enhance learning is essential. Additionally, the preferred candidate must be able to communicate effectively in oral and written English. Ability to interact effectively with undergraduate students in a dynamic and diverse college environment. Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will also be considered. Additional Information: Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $1,527/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment. Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
