Position Overview: The Strategic Procurement and Optimization Senior Manager is at the forefront of transforming our procurement of indirect (non-merchandise) expenditures. This role champions contract negotiations, strategic sourcing, and vendor compliance, all while collaborating across the business to identify and eliminate inefficiencies. Your work will lead to significant cost reductions and enhanced satisfaction for both customers and employees. This role is based at our headquarters near Madison, WI. You will work in the office Monday through Thursday, with the flexibility to work from home on Fridays if you prefer. What You'll Do: Develop and implement a procurement strategy that delivers competitive advantages through the effective sourcing of goods and services. Build and nurture strong relationships across the enterprise. Conduct market and data analysis to pinpoint key spending areas for improvement and craft targeted category management plans. Select, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of procurement professionals. Collaborate with Legal, Finance, IT, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure procurement activities align with corporate objectives. Create and manage procurement processes, policies, and tools that drive business success in line with the procurement strategy. Enhance supplier relationship management and oversight to maximize overall business value. Continuously streamline productivity and efficiency of processes organization-wide. Utilize data gathered from systems, expert insights, and observation to identify and quantify inefficiencies within the organization. Work in partnership with various business areas to resolve and enhance operational inefficiencies. Complete additional duties and projects as needed. What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred (equivalent experience will be considered). 10+ years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a management role. Extensive expertise in a business setting with significant interpersonal interactions requiring independent professional judgment. Strong background in reviewing and negotiating contracts. Proven ability to cultivate strong relationships with both vendors and internal stakeholders across all organizational levels. Documented success in achieving cost savings, enhancing vendor relationships, and optimizing operational processes. Working knowledge of legal considerations relating to contracts and agreements. Robust analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a capability to leverage data for informed decision-making. Excellent negotiation capabilities. Demonstrated aptitude for leading and motivating teams to meet challenging goals. Strong critical thinking, resourcefulness, and agility. Integrity, fairness, and honesty in all interactions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace. Experience using financial/ERP systems. Familiarity with procurement systems. Six Sigma training preferred. Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Physical Environment & Travel Expectations: Travel is anticipated for less than 10% of company meetings, programs, or events. Sitting is required for 90% of working hours; standing for 10%. Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movement is needed (e.g., typing). Occasional reaching, twisting, and bending may be necessary. The noise level is typically no greater than casual conversation. Ability to work in cubicle workstations or office settings. Work environment temperatures range from 65 - 75 degrees. Position Compensation Outline: Compensation Range: $112,000 - $124,000/year. This position is eligible for the company bonus program. Compensation stated is for the full-time position at this location and is contingent on several factors including experience and qualifications.
