Our core values reflect our dedication to improving lives through our commitment to pets and their owners: Pet First - Protect & Empower. All pets deserve to Live their Best Life. We celebrate the pet parenting journey through unforgettable experiences, products, and services. Let's Go! Own & Commit. As One Petco team, we leverage our unique strengths and promote authenticity to achieve success. About Petco: For over 60 years, we have proudly been “where the pets go” to find everything they need for their best lives—from favorite meals and toys to trusted supplies and expert support from individuals who genuinely understand the bond. We recognize the universal joys of pet parenthood—the endless affection, missing belongings, late-night antics, and everything in between. We are here through all of it: every wag, every vet visit, and every step of the way. With 29,000+ passionate team members, we nurture the pet-human connection in more than 1,500 Petco stores across the U.S., Mexico, and Puerto Rico, 250+ Vetco Total Care hospitals, numerous preventive care clinics, and eight distribution centers. Since 1999, through Petco Love, we have supported thousands of local animal welfare organizations and helped find homes for around 7 million animals through in-store adoption events. As an Operations Supervisor, you will be a vital part of our leadership team, ensuring the seamless daily operations, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for pets, team members, and customers. Your role includes supporting store leadership by supervising team members, managing daily openings and closings, and acting as a key contact in the absence of management. If you're someone who enjoys leading on the floor, resolving issues quickly, and delivering outstanding experiences daily, this is the right fit for you. Your Responsibilities: Pet First: Uphold Petco's animal care standards, ensuring the health, safety, and proper handling of all animals. Promote a safe and welcoming environment for pets, pet parents, and team members. Comply with all policies related to animal welfare, safety, and store operations. Foster the Fun: Deliver friendly, knowledgeable, and solution-oriented service to every customer. Support and supervise team members, maintaining productivity and positive morale. Assist in training new team members and reinforce best practices on the sales floor. Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment. Let's Go! Open and close the store while adhering to cash handling, safety, and security protocols. Support daily store operations, including sales, task execution, and recovery. Implement merchandising standards, including planograms, pricing accuracy, signage, and promotional setups. Assist with inventory processes, such as restocking, cycle counts, and inventory paperwork. Identify out-of-stocks and low inventory, communicating issues to store leadership. Process transactions, refunds, and exchanges accurately and efficiently. Act as the primary point of contact in the absence of store management. Support sales initiatives and promotions to meet store goals. Success Metrics: The store opens and closes smoothly and safely. Merchandise is well-stocked, accurately priced, and visually appealing. Inventory is managed accurately and carefully. Customers receive prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service. Team members feel supported and clear on expectations during each shift. Your Skills and Experience: Prior retail experience is required; key holder or supervisory experience is preferred. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Basic math skills and experience handling cash transactions. Reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented. Work Environment: This position primarily occurs in a Pet Care Center retail environment. The Operations Supervisor is expected to be actively present on the sales floor, leading by example, and engaging with team members, customers, and pets. Majority of work is conducted indoors; however, some duties may require leaving the Pet Care Center for tasks like bank deposits, merchandise transport, or community events. The role involves frequent standing and walking, along with bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting. Ability to lift and carry merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. Regular interaction with customers on the sales floor, including customer assistance and point-of-sale transactions. Must be comfortable working near animals, with possible exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. Flexible availability is required to accommodate Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. A limited amount of travel may be necessary for training or community engagement. We provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. Why Join Us: Engaging work that positively impacts pets and people. Opportunities to develop leadership skills and advance your career. A collaborative and inclusive team culture. A strong foundation for future leadership opportunities. The salary range for this position is $18.75 - $28.75 per hour, based on experience and location.
