This role supports projects from concept through construction, installation, testing, and commissioning while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and project specifications. The Mechanical Engineer collaborates with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality engineering solutions.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and review mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, piping, mechanical equipment, and related componentsPrepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentationReview and interpret architectural, structural, and electrical drawings to ensure system coordinationSupport project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control effortsConduct site visits to observe installation progress, resolve field issues, and verify compliance with design documentsReview shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs for mechanical scopeEnsure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, ASME, NEC, NFPA, local building codes)Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to resolve technical issuesPerform system testing, commissioning support, and performance evaluationsIdentify opportunities for value engineering and energy efficiency improvementsMaintain accurate project records and provide technical reports as requiredRequired QualificationsMUST HAVE COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldMinimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience (construction, MEP, industrial, or manufacturing preferred)Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design softwareStrong understanding of mechanical systems and construction methodsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsKnowledge of applicable engineering codes and regulationsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsMust be willing to travel from time to timePreferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseExperience in commercial construction or large-scale projectsFamiliarity with energy modeling and sustainability standardsExperience working with multidisciplinary project teamsWork Environment & Physical RequirementsCombination of office and field work at active job sitesAbility to travel to project sites as requiredAbility to lift up to 25 pounds and navigate construction environmentsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experienceHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and holidaysProfessional development and licensing support
