Responsible for patient throughput and bed placement. Assists with Guest Relations Coordination. Helps facilitate staffing effectiveness, EBM, and Professional and Technical Staff restraint compliance. Responsibilities Provides administrative support to staff in the absence of the Manager and/or Director or designee, collaborates with all disciplines in coordination of quality patient care, facilitates patient placement and timely patient throughput to the appropriate care setting, responds immediately to emergency situations (i.e. rapid responses and all code situations), and works collaboratively with Unit Shift Managers providing guidance and direction in daily operations. Adheres to and supports hospital and department policies, and acts as a resource for staff, identifies and intervenes with Human Resource issues. Communicates these issues to appropriate Director/AOC, participates in disciplinary action of staff, as warranted, assists at month’s end to assure all renewals of licensures/certifications are completed, and keeps current with all communications from CNO/Risk etc. sharing information amongst supervisor group. Staffing standards maintained as outlined by individual department staffing plans/matrix, collaborates with staff to assure schedules meet unit needs and to minimize the use of agency personnel, competent in the utilization of Optilink for scheduling and Patient Activity System, reviews appropriateness of the use of specialty beds for prevention of falls, pressure ulcers, and reminds staff to be compliant with evidence based practice criteria, i.e. core measures, POA and Falls prevention. Immediately responds to any patient/visitor complaint as they are received, appropriately involved Department Directors to help mitigate guest relations issues, whenever possible re-visits patients providing follow up, notifies CNO/Risk Manager if situation escalates beyond scope of responsibility, and rounds in patient rooms assuring completion of white boards as a means to engage patients and improve inpatient satisfaction. Achieve annual specific departmental goals as applicable, functions as clinical resource to the staffing coordinator ensuring activity of unit matches staffing levels, works with medical and case management staff to ensure appropriate placement of patients, and improve relationships among supervised colleagues/Nursing Directors. Qualifications Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications Registered Nurse BSN preferred BLS ACLS competent CPI- Due within 90 days of hire.
