GENERAL PURPOSE: The Retail Loss Prevention Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining store security by providing a visible presence at entrances and exits. This position is essential to reducing theft and maintaining a safe shopping environment for both employees and customers. Your friendly demeanor, along with your vigilance, will help deter theft while ensuring an engaging experience for all patrons. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensuring a Safe Environment: Prioritize safety in all aspects of your work and assist in maintaining a secure environment for everyone. Exhibit a strong presence at store entrances/exits and on the sales floor, greeting customers and monitoring safety issues. Keep emergency exits clear and remove hazards to ensure safe navigation throughout the store. Building Relationships: Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, making eye contact, and responding to inquiries cheerfully. Always treat customers and team members with respect and professionalism. Engage with colleagues and community partners in various initiatives to foster teamwork. Reducing Theft and Fraud: Monitor the store for suspicious behavior indicative of theft and report findings to leadership. Utilize both internal and external intelligence to effectively address trends in loss prevention. Adhere to company policies for responding to theft incidents. Minimizing Operational Shortage: Raise awareness among the store team about effective strategies to reduce operational shortages. Observe and verify that checkout procedures are being followed correctly by both customers and staff. REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent; AA degree is a plus. One year of supervisory experience in retail or equivalent preferred. Training in loss prevention or security is a plus. Active Security Guard License is highly preferred. Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments. Demonstrated strong communication and conflict resolution skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. Must be able to stand and move around the store for the entire working shift. Ability to lift and move items weighing over 25 lbs. Flexibility to bend, stoop, or crouch based on daily needs.
