Overview We are looking for a Microbiology Specialist for Oilfield Applications to join our Materials & Corrosion Solutions Division within the Research & Analytical Services Department. Your primary responsibilities will include leading high-level technical service projects and developing innovative microbiology strategies for sustainability in oil and gas production. Key Responsibilities Establish and nurture strong working relationships with stakeholders. Collaborate effectively with field engineers and scientists from various disciplines. Design and execute laboratory studies tailored to our needs. Conduct thorough root-cause analyses of microbiology-related challenges. Evaluate microbial control technologies, including chemical products. Investigate water compatibility issues and provide practical solutions. Design and optimize biocide treatment programs. Identify technical gaps and initiate relevant research projects. Develop and refine new testing methods and procedures. Lead teams in international professional communities and multidisciplinary investigations. Mentor junior engineers and scientists, providing guidance and hands-on training. Lead collaborative research efforts with suitable partners and organizations. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences. Support the development of in-house technologies. Minimum Requirements A Bachelor's degree in science or engineering, plus a Ph.D. in applied microbiology or a related field. A minimum of 15 years experience in microbiology applications within the petroleum industry. A proven track record in microbial control technology development, monitoring, and mitigation. Expertise in planktonic and biofilm growth simulations and microbial risk assessment. Hands-on laboratory skills in molecular and conventional microbiology techniques. Demonstrated scientific authority and credibility through publications and patents. Experience leading multidisciplinary technical projects with a focus on innovation and operational excellence. Active involvement in international professional societies and committees. A proactive approach to adapting to new developments and challenges. Proven capacity to lead teams with diverse expertise and backgrounds.
