PostgreSQL Database Engineer

Interview : Video Remote to start with; hybrid some time in 2024. Candidates must currently be located within a 2 hour radius of Woodlawn, MD. Description : Notes: Candidate must currently be within a 2-hour radius of Woodlawn, MD No relocation candidates will be considered, only currently local Strong development and administration experience within PostgreSQL database Strong PL/pgSQL and pgAdmin experience Strong experience with AWS cloud (RDS, EC2, etc...) The PostgreSQL Database will be hosted on top of AWS I believe. Job Description: Key Required Skills: PostgreSQL, Database Administration (e.g. analysis, development, maintenance, reporting), Database Schema Design/Development/Maintenance, Cloud Infrastructure (i.e. AWS). Skills Requirements: Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field • Master's or Doctorate degree may substitute for required experience • 5+ years of experience with database infrastructure tasks on Linux/Unix operating systems. • 5+ years of experience with relational database administration/management. Required Skills: • Experience working in a cloud environment (e.g. AWS) and with deployment of AWS Cloud Infrastructure. • Knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture. • Experience setting up and managing PostgreSQL on AWS RDS and AWS EC2 Virtual Server. • Experience with data architecture, logical and physical design, reporting and analysis. • Experience developing and testing Linux or Bash scripts for startup, shutdown, backups, database scripts, and other scripting. • Experience with programming languages like PL/pgSQL and Groovy. • Experience with Replication and Change Data Capture (CDC) techniques and tools. • Experience with data conversion and management strategies. • Experience with database partitioning and microservices. • Expertise in writing complex SQL queries in PostgreSQL and optimize queries. • Strong communication and collaborative skills in providing technical direction and hands-on database administration to include design, development, and testing. Desired Skills: • Comprehensive knowledge of Scrum and Kanban Agile development process and ceremonies including scrums, planning events, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and demos. • Experience working as part of a large team and working with upstream and downstream dependencies. • Experience with various administration and development platforms for PostgreSQL (e.g., pgAdmin) • Experience with Liquibase and LiquiGen plug-in. • Experience with Jenkins CI/CD tools and scripting. • Experience with source code versioning and Pull Requests with Git and Stash. • Experience with performance tuning and increasing efficiency of a large enterprise system.
