Job DescriptionJob Description: The Academic Support Center (ASC) Peer Success Coaches are student leaders who provide life and academic skills mentoring for their fellow students. Ithaca Seminar Peer Leader Coordinators are peer success coaches who specialize in supporting the growth and development of first-year students. All peer success coaches assist students with developing a success-oriented growth mindset and skills for academic, professional and personal success. Duties and Responsibilities: ICSM PLC Peer Success Coaches assist peers with college student development and accountability to maximize their time at IC and pursue all the experiences they want to have in college. ICSM PL Coordinators: Participate in planning and curriculum delivery for at least one section of ICSM 20000. (Block II Spring 26, all of Fall 26 semester) Meet weekly with a group of new ICSM Peer Leaders, providing them with support and guidance to plan and prepare their contributions to first year seminar programming. (Fall semester only) Collaborate with other ICSM Coordinators and the program director to create and conduct activities, presentations and events to enhance IC student success. (Block II Spring 26, all of Fall 26 semester) Meet weekly with other ICSM Coordinators and the program director for planning and professional development. (Block II Spring 26, all of Fall 26 semester) This is a time commitment of approximately 2-5 hours per week in spring semester and 5 hours per week in fall semester. ICSM PL Coordinators have the option of also working within the main ASC PSC program for additional hours. Coach individual clients on their academic and personal success goals. Help facilitate success workshops, events and Success Study Sessions. Serve on panels and represent the ASC at admissions and yield events. Attend weekly team meetings/professional development and periodic. administrative meetings and/or ad hoc training. All ICSM PL Coordinator Peer Success Coaches must have successfully completed at least one semester of ICSM 20000 Peer Leadership in the Ithaca Seminar. This is accepted as a course substitution for the REQUIRED 0-1 credit online asynchronous training course (COLL 21500) for Peer Success Coaches. ICSM 20000 is not accepted as a course substitution for students who are seeking to become tutors for a specific course. Qualifications: Successful completion of at least one semester of ICSM 20000 Peer Leadership course Good academic standing & recommended by faculty/staff (GPA 3.0 or above) Excellent judicial standing (no current Student Conduct violations) Excellent communication skills Desire to grow and learn Commitment to student success Preferred Qualifications - all of the above, plus: Excellent academic standing Student leadership experience Experience with program development and facilitation Experience with diverse populations Commitment to practicing cultural humility and safety for diverse populations Pay Rate: $16.30/hour Hiring Manager: Elizabeth Bleicher About Us Ithaca College's student employment program offers meaningful experiential learning opportunities that develop transferable skills sought by employers across various industries.
