SUMMARY The General Maintenance Engineer I ("Ingeniero/a de Mantenimiento I") assists to ensure equipment, physical plant, and property are maintained properly so that equipment operates at optimum levels. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Perform maintenance and repairs in guest rooms and public areas, including plumbing (clogs/toilets), electrical systems (switches, outlets, lighting, TVs), HVAC, hardware, appliances, and cosmetic repairs. Monitor and respond to Fire Alarm/Life Safety systems, including sprinkler and emergency power systems. Support energy conservation efforts by monitoring utility usage and identifying efficiency improvements. Maintain and properly store tools and equipment; ensure assigned tools are clean, protected, and secured. Respond promptly to emergencies to protect guests, associates, and property and restore normal operations. Follow safety standards and Job Safety Analysis guidelines; identify and correct hazardous conditions. Read and record meter and equipment data; maintain accurate daily logs and communicate updates between shifts. Keep engineering areas clean and organized; assist with departmental tasks as assigned. Complete all assignments professionally, communicate supply needs, and provide technical support to team members as needed. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED. At least 3-12 months of relevant experience and/or training. If no educational background, at least 1 year. Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred. Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required. Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges. Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs. Experience in dealing with the public is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc. The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq. The pay scale posted is the salary or hourly wage range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position during the first year of employment. The posted range does NOT include potential additional types of compensation, such as gratuities, service charges, commissions, or bonuses. Actual compensation offered may fluctuate based on qualifications and/or experience.
