This is an exciting opportunity to be part of USADA as we expand our Anti-Doping efforts in preparation for international competitions in 2026 (Milan) and 2028 (Los Angeles). As a team member, you will directly contribute to protecting clean athletes and supporting the organizing committee's commitment to a clean Games. Reporting Structure: Reports to: DC Ops Manager & Assistant Manager Supervises: N/A Location: Must reside within 50 miles of the operational area Job Summary: The Doping Control Officer is responsible for collecting samples from athletes in accordance with USADA protocols. This role involves preparation, execution, and post-collection administration at both competitive events and in out-of-competition settings. DCOs represent USADA in the field and work closely with our Operations team to guarantee a fair and healthy environment for all athletes. Key Responsibilities: Conduct sample collection sessions for Olympic, Paralympic, and Client Services testing teams, and other agencies as necessary. Accept, plan, and manage doping control assignments according to WADA/International Standards and USADA criteria. Handle logistical aspects of the doping control process for successful mission completion. Perform sample processing and documentation following USADA protocols and the WADA Code. Recruit and onboard Chaperones as needed, especially for minors or gender-sensitive collections. Monitor and ensure proper witnessing during the sample collection process. Travel to various locations via economical means to complete sample collections. Ensure precise documentation throughout the doping control process. Ship and submit samples to WADA certified laboratories. Assist in the training and onboarding of new doping control officers. Stay updated with the current DCO Manual and USADA guidelines. Participate in continuing education, evaluations, and re-accreditation processes. Manage equipment and records related to sample collection. Schedule travel and submit expense reports promptly. Provide testimonies in legal cases related to Anti-Doping Rule Violations. Maintain infection control processes during all interactions. General Expectations: Maintain confidentiality at all times. No affiliations with other sample collection organizations. Communicate any field issues or conflicts of interest to USADA. Recommend updates to USADA procedures as needed. Complete other assigned projects and duties. Required Qualifications: Exceptional oral and written communication abilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in using technology, including tablets and software platforms. Demonstrated ability to: Make informed decisions adhering to USADA protocols. Multitask and perform effectively under pressure. Professional interaction with both internal and external constituents. Travel at short notice for testing assignments. Work flexible hours as necessary. Access the internet for daily communications. Exhibit integrity, respect, and fairness in all dealings. Collaborate effectively in team settings. Meet deadlines and work independently. Perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and lifting regularly. Certification Requirements: Complete all USADA certification requirements. Pass bi-annual written and practical exams. Attend DCO training and certification sessions. Possess a valid Driver's License. Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. DCO II Additional Requirements: National Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency (valid as listed). Compliance with state-specific phlebotomy training requirements. Preferred 3+ years of phlebotomy experience. Obtain SafeSport Certification after hiring. Desired Qualifications: Experience in Allied Health Professions (Athletic Trainer, Nurse, etc.) with relevant certifications. Compensation & Commitment: Compensation per test, typically ranging from $130 to $180 for out-of-competition tests, and a daily rate of $250 for event testing. Initial onboarding in March requires a commitment of 24-30 hours within the first 60 days, then 2-3 hours per quarter for training and updates.
