About Us Dalton State College delivers a transformational education experience in a community serving more than 5,000 students through its two campuses and online programs. Job Summary This position is responsible for directing the operations of the School of Education. Unofficial transcripts will suffice for initial screening; however, official transcripts will be required upon employment Minimum Annual Salary: $111,900/year Benefits Include : Healthcare options Retirement options: Teachers Retirement Systems (TRS) or Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) Tuition assistance $100 Well-being rewards 13 paid holidays Paid vacation and sick leave Paid parental leave Winter break (December holidays) USG Benefits Responsibilities Manages and supervises school faculty, staff, programs, and events - 20% - Recruits, supervises, and oversees the evaluation of school faculty; makes recommendations to the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs on matters related to hiring, promotion, tenure, and terms of employment. - Develops and implements policies and procedures. - Promotes faculty scholarship, professional development, student success, institutional and community service - Supervises, promotes and assesses sufficiency of professional development for school staff - Resolves problems with faculty, staff, and students - Conducts meetings of the school faculty and staff for the purposes of planning, data collection and reporting - Assists in the screening applicants and in making hiring decisions - Manages and supervises chair - Collaborates with chair to make management decisions - Manages administrative assistant and Assessment Coordinator Directs operations, development, and budget management efforts - 20% - Manages and administers the school budget - Coordinates with college Advancement staff to acquire external support for school operations, including grant funds; manages grant funds; manages grant funds - Leads and participates in resource planning - Manages expenditures - Manages and maintains balance and distribution of Foundation funds to the School Oversees curriculum development and accreditation processes - 25% - Oversees curriculum development, delivery of instruction, and assessment and evaluation of programs - Manages accreditation and reaccreditation processes - Ensures completion of program reviews, including student outcomes and continuous improvement - Leads efforts to develop and implement the College's first Master's program and obtain approval from the Board of Regents, SACSCOC, and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) - Facilitates efforts to incorporate alternative pedagogies (classical, dual language immersion, "Finnish") into both current teacher prep and Master's-level programs Collaborates with internal and external partners - 25% - Develops and maintains positive relationships with school districts, state and regional agencies, community partners, and other educational institutions - Leads northwest Georgia efforts to support literacy and full implementation of the Science of Reading through the work of the School of Education and its students - Partners around efforts to establish the Learning Academy of Northwest Georgia - an under-development charter school focused on literacy, classical education, dual-language immersion (English & Spanish), and the "Finnish" (outdoor learning, personalized learning plans, etc.) model of education - Coordinates activities with school districts, including those that are a part of grant or outreach initiatives - Collaborates with leadership, offices, and programs across campus on college-wide programs - Promotes the school and college to a variety of stakeholders - Participates in relevant USG initiatives and addresses requests for information - Participates in student recruitment events - Serves on a variety of internal and external committees and organizations Engages in scholarly activities - 5% - - Fosters academic professionalism through participating in professional organizations, engaging in research, publishing scholarly works, and/or through other appropriate methods - Teaches courses in the incumbent's academic discipline as required Performs related duties - 5% Required Qualifications Educational Requirements - Doctoral degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required. Required Experience - More than five years of related experience.
