Job Description Join General Motors as a Senior Purchasing Agent in a hybrid role, where you can advance your career while working with a dynamic team. The Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC) organization is seeking passionate candidates for current and future Senior Buyer positions. As a Senior Purchasing Agent, you will have the opportunity to influence various areas within the GPSC organization, including: Chassis Propulsion Structures Interior/Exterior/Thermal Battery, Fuel Cells, & Critical Material Electrical systems, Software and Connectivity Indirect Purchasing or Other The ideal candidate will excel in an autonomous work environment, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and prioritize tasks to maximize value for General Motors. Manage the purchasing of productive and non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling, and services. Contribute to the development of commodity strategies. Lead global sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations. Oversee global and regional material budgets. Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams. Maintain sourcing documentation, benchmarking data, and on-time metrics. Adhere to corporate purchasing practices and procedures. Engage in sourcing strategies, including bid management and quote analysis. Align RFQ components, ensuring compliance with Terms & Conditions. Lead sourcing recommendations in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Manage supplier relationships and lead supplier KPI reviews. Tackle supply chain disruptions and support contract analysis. Identify continuous improvement initiatives and savings opportunities. Champion GM’s values and make customer-focused decisions. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics, or product development. Data Judgment - Proficient in data analysis and drawing meaningful conclusions. Effective Communication - Convey relevant information to the appropriate audience promptly. Relationship Management - Build and maintain constructive working relationships. Negotiation - Conduct discussions to reach beneficial agreements. Analytical Thinking - Analyze various factors to determine effective solutions. Results Orientation - Take initiative and deliver results promptly. Workload Management - Balance multiple tasks with a focus on quality and priority. SAP experience or willingness to learn purchasing systems. Willingness to travel 10% of the time, domestically and internationally. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field. Experience with commodities. Knowledge of cost analysis or manufacturing processes. Familiarity with the automotive industry. Understanding of capacity and materials management. Aptitude to analyze complex data, market trends, and regulatory environments. Ability to interpret engineering documents and technical specifications.
