The accounting team is looking to add a new individual to the team.The Assistant Controller would assist the Controller with general accounting operations. This role would work to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks. This position would report to the Controller and engage regularly with VP of Finance.Responsibilities Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and monthly sales entriesProduce error-free accounting reportsMaintain general ledgerSpot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spendingReview and recommend modifications to accounting systems and proceduresAssist in working with external accountants in preparation of annual tax returns and annual auditsPrepare and file sales tax reportsTrack fixed assetsMaintain lease payable calculationsDirect internal audits across departments to ensure compliance with internal control standardsSupport month-end and year-end close processDevelop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controlsEnsure compliance with GAAP principlesLiaise with VP of Finance to improve financial proceduresAdditional duties as assigned Requirements-Preferences Proven experience as staff or senior accountantThorough knowledge of basic accounting proceduresIn-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Awareness of business trendsFamiliarity with financial accounting statementsExperience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close processHands-on experience with Sage Intacct is a plusAdvanced MS Excel skillsAccuracy and attention to detailAptitude for numbers and quantitative skillsBS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field with CPA designation preferred
