Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your skills as a Certified Surgical Technologist will be valued and supported. This full-time role with on-call responsibilities offers an opportunity to work closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and surgical staff to ensure exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. General Summary As a Surgical Technologist, you will be a vital member of the surgical team, utilizing sterile techniques and specialized equipment to assist surgeons in performing operations efficiently and safely. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare surgical cases accurately using surgeon preference cards and appropriate instruments or prosthetic devices. Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support surgical procedures. Maintain aseptic technique, demonstrate dexterity, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team. Operate sterilization equipment following established protocols. Monitor implantable devices ensuring sterility and proper function. Inspect and verify the functionality of surgical equipment prior to procedures. Handle surgical tools, tables, cautery units, and specialty equipment with care. Work independently while meeting commitments, managing time effectively, and maintaining punctuality. Keep workspaces organized, clean, and efficient to enhance patient safety. Perform delegated tasks under the direct supervision of the surgeon to maintain quality standards. Education Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program is required. Experience Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Nurse is preferred but not mandatory. Certification and Licenses Current Surgical Technologist Certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Mental and Physical Requirements This role demands considerable mental focus and physical stamina, including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Expect regular exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and body fluids, as well as occasional interactions with challenging individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is anticipated.
