Position Type: Technology/IT Maintenance Technician Date Posted: 1/8/2026 Location: Various Buildings GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Successful applicants will be assigned to a specific District school with a concentration in PreK and Special Education programs. The primary function is to provide site-based support for the use of specialized educational technology, particularly iPads, focusing on application deployment, accessibility configuration, and connectivity troubleshooting. The technician will act as the first line of support to ensure the seamless operation of instructional technology, minimizing focus on centralized hardware break/fix and prioritizing real-time instructional continuity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by successful applicants in this school-based position: Prioritize the management and deployment of educational applications (apps), ensuring that software specific to PreK and Special Education (e.g., AAC, literacy, and behavioral support tools) is configured correctly via the Mobile Device Management (MDM) system. Work with staff and students to set up and personalize iPads and other assistive technology devices, focusing heavily on accessibility features (e.g., Guided Access, switch control) and user-specific app configurations to meet diverse learning needs. Maintain and troubleshoot issues arising during the use of iPads and specialized peripherals, with a strong focus on wireless network stability, connectivity, and application functionality. Assist staff and students in the use and general operation of PreK/SPED technology, including iPads, interactive displays, Bluetooth accessories, and projection systems. Troubleshooting responsibilities will primarily involve diagnosing and resolving software conflicts, app errors, and network connection issues. Hardware issues (e.g., physical damage) will be identified, documented via Help Desk tickets, and prepared for transfer to the centralized IT team for higher-level repair. Act as the school technology liaison for the successful integration of District-wide platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, specialized learning platforms) into PreK/SPED classrooms, providing support for adoption and ongoing use. Work with district personnel to provide device use and platform training specific to PreK and Special Education. Required Qualifications and Experience High school diploma or equivalent is required. Proven experience in supporting and managing iOS/iPadOS devices in an educational environment. Experience with Mosyle Manager/School (MDM) is a significant plus. Strong working knowledge of network connectivity troubleshooting (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay) and software configuration. Familiarity with educational technology applications and accessibility features relevant to early childhood and special education. OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS: Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential. Ability to identify needs, prioritize and complete projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision. Experience in working with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Ability and demonstrated willingness to adapt to new technology as adopted by this large school district. Ability to seek out appropriate resources to resolve more difficult technology problems. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: The terms and conditions of this position are governed by a collective bargaining agreement between the Danbury Public Schools and UPSEU. The position is Full Time -- 35 hours/week at $23.00 per hour. This position has a full year work year, with holiday and vacation benefits as contained in the collective bargaining agreement.
