Job Description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Clinical Staff Pharmacist working the night shift. This role involves collaborating with fellow pharmacists to compound and dispense medications and IV supplies with precision and care. Key Responsibilities Accurately enter and confirm medication orders using Meditech, ensuring no duplications or errors. Respond to inquiries from pharmacy staff, nursing, and physicians by researching through Meditech and other resources. Utilize Omni Server reports to resolve discrepancies efficiently. Review physician orders for accuracy and completeness, clarifying with prescribers as necessary and documenting interactions. Check for duplicate medications, drug interactions, adverse reactions, and inappropriate orders. Ensure dispensed medications match prescriber orders and operate pharmacy automation systems effectively. Fill dispensing system canisters promptly, performing all safety checks including barcode scanning and visual inspections. Verify and sign off on Unit Dose repackaging and complete annual IV Room competency within required timeframes. Prepare compounded sterile products using aseptic techniques and maintain chemotherapy documentation. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including hoods and USP 797 documentation. Verify narcotic counts after each withdrawal and complete narcotic paperwork accurately, resolving discrepancies immediately. Receive controlled substances and document appropriately. Participate actively in selected committees and provide timely, comprehensive drug information to healthcare professionals and patients. Assist in pharmacist hiring and precept pharmacy students. Support the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator in enhancing pharmaceutical care and drug therapy management. Complete all clinical activities daily and document accordingly. Fulfill all annual mandatory education requirements. Education Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy is required. Experience One year of hospital pharmacy experience or internship is preferred. Licensure and Certification Must hold or be able to obtain a pharmacist license within 90 days in the applicable state. Active membership in pharmacy organizations is encouraged. Mental and Physical Requirements This position requires considerable mental concentration for extended periods and physical activities including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Working Conditions Standard pharmacy environment with exposure to printer, automation, and telephone noise. The role involves meeting challenging deadlines and handling sensitive situations with professionalism.
