About the job Chief Operating Officer (COO) The Role We are looking for a visionary and operational heavyweight to serve as the Chief Operating Officer for Instagram. In this critical executive role, you will partner closely with the Head of Instagram to drive the strategic direction and operational execution of the platform. You will be the bridge between product vision and business reality. You will oversee global operations, partnerships, marketing, and monetization strategies, ensuring that Instagram continues to grow as a safe, inclusive, and profitable platform for billions of users and millions of creators. Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Leadership & Vision Business Strategy: Co-author the long-term strategic roadmap for Instagram, balancing user growth, creator satisfaction, and revenue generation. Execution: Translate high-level vision into actionable goals. Drive operational rigor across the organization (Product, Engineering, Sales, and Policy). Meta Integration: Serve as a key liaison with Meta leadership, ensuring Instagrams priorities align with the broader "Family of Apps" ecosystem while maintaining the platform's unique identity. 2. Global Operations & Monetization Revenue Growth: Partner with Metas Global Business Group to evolve ad products and commerce solutions (e.g., Instagram Shopping, Branded Content). Creator Economy: Lead the strategy to help creators make a living. oversee the operational rollout of monetization tools, creator funds, and partnership programs. Scalability: Identify operational bottlenecks in a hyper-growth environment and implement systems to scale efficiency across global teams. 3. Partnerships & External Affairs Global Partnerships: Oversee high-stakes relationships with media publishers, celebrities, public figures, and key industry stakeholders. Brand Stewardship: Work closely with the CMO to guide global brand positioning, ensuring Instagram remains the destination for culture and creativity. Policy & Safety: Collaborate with Policy and Safety teams to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and champion user safety, privacy, and well-being. 4. Organizational Culture Team Building: Lead, mentor, and retain a high-performing, diverse executive leadership team. Change Management: Navigate the organization through market shifts (e.g., the pivot to video/Reels) and internal restructuring with transparency and empathy. Minimum Qualifications Experience: 15+ years of experience in senior leadership roles within technology, media, or digital entertainment sectors. Scale: Proven track record of managing P&L and operations for a global organization with 500+ employees and significant revenue targets. Strategic Agility: Demonstrated ability to pivot strategies in response to competitive threats (e.g., TikTok, Snapchat) and changing user behaviors. Cross-Functional Mastery: Experience working in a matrixed environment; ability to influence teams that do not report directly to you (e.g., Engineering/Product). Preferred Qualifications Creator Economy Insight: Deep understanding of the influencer marketing landscape, creator monetization, and the digital content ecosystem. Product Fluency: Ability to "speak product" with engineers and designers, bridging the gap between technical constraints and business goals. Crisis Management: Experience navigating public relations crises, regulatory scrutiny, or complex policy challenges. MBA or Advanced Degree: Preferred but not required. Why Join Us?
