Magento Architect/Manager

CMK Resources is seeking a proactive Magento Development Lead to lead a small team of developers and vendor partners. This role is critical in overseeing the Magento eCommerce platform and requires strong technical acumen alongside excellent leadership and communication skills. The manager will report directly to the CEO and CTO, ensuring the team effectively addresses challenges and communicates successes and risks. Location: Metro Detroit, MI - seeking local only that are willing to be onsite a couple times a week. Core Responsibilities: Lead and manage a small development team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Architect and design scalable solutions, taking full ownership of the Magento eCommerce platform and driving enhancements and optimizations. Own delivery accountability, including task management, team coordination, and enforcing timelines. Communicate clearly and effectively with executive leadership, especially the CTO and CEO, demonstrating a strong presence and polished communication style. Mitigate technical risks by identifying issues before they impact production and implementing fixes to prevent cascading failures. Balance strategic oversight with the authority and confidence to drive standards across code quality, timelines, and outcomes. Lead technical discussions, create documentation, and design solutions that integrate with existing technical infrastructure, including eCommerce, ERP, PIM, and OMS systems. Architect and maintain API integrations to ensure seamless connectivity with connected systems. Develop and execute plans to optimize infrastructure for scalability, performance, and security in a cloud environment. Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities and deficiencies, aligning business needs with technical solutions. Stay updated on the latest Magento and eCommerce trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, sharing insights with the team. Skills & Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in a lead or managerial role within an eCommerce environment. 7+ years as a backend or full-stack developer, with 5+ years of hands-on experience in the Magento/Adobe Commerce platform. High familiarity with cloud computing environments (Azure/AWS). Comfortable using diagnostic tools (e.g., New Relic) to inform decision-making. Strong background in version control systems (e.g., GIT). Proven implementation experience with various CI/CD techniques. Familiarity with testing frameworks and unit testing best practices. Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget. Prior experience in a B2B eCommerce role is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications: Adobe Commerce developer certification(s) preferred. Experience in handling acquisitions and integrating e-commerce catalogs is a plus. Adept at developing solutions for large catalogs (2 million+ SKUs). Open to candidates with strong PHP and eCommerce experience, even if not exclusively Magento-focused.
