Position Type: Community Engagement/Communications & Marketing Intern Date Posted: 1/29/2026 Location: Headquarters/FVIA Closing Date: Open Until Filled The Community Engagement Department has a full-time Communications & Marketing Intern position available. HOURLY RATE: $16.00 HOURS: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, MONDAY - FRIDAY, MAY INCLUDE WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist the Community Engagement team with Forest Preserve District communications and marketing efforts. • Create effective content for District social media accounts, including posts, videos, reels and stories for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and other social media channels. • Incorporate current trends and best practices for social media campaigns. Generate engagement reports. • Take photographs and videos to help promote the District. Organize digital marketing materials. • Design flyers, brochures, signage and promotional materials. • Assist with community and special events to promote the District and interact with the public. • Identify and pursue opportunities for sponsorships and partnerships with the community. • Work as Events Assistant when needed at Barbara Belding Lodge at Brewster Creek or Creek Bend Nature Center. QUALIFICATIONS • Must be a full-time college student at an accredited school with two years minimum course work in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications or related field. • Must have strong written, oral communication and presentation skills. • Must have experience with common computer software such as Microsoft Word, email, Web and social media. • Experience with video editing and graphic design skills, and Adobe Creative Suite a plus. • Must be able to work independently. Ability to be outgoing, enthusiastic, courteous, maintain a positive attitude and team spirit. • Must be 18 years of age or older. • Current and valid driver's license that is free from suspension or revocation during term of employment; must maintain insurability with the District's fleet carrier. • Employment is subject to successful results of a criminal history background investigation and satisfactory completion of a physical and drug screen. Compensation and Benefits The hourly rate for this position is $16.00. This position is eligible for the District's seasonal benefits.
