This role focuses on providing specialized psychiatric nursing care within an Emergency Psych Services setting. The position demands a dedicated Registered Nurse to deliver both direct and indirect patient care, develop individualized interdisciplinary care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes for individuals experiencing various psychiatric conditions. The patient population ranges widely in age, starting from young children to adults, often presenting with diagnoses such as major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, psychotic disorders, or needing detoxification services. Qualifications: Associate degree in Nursing (2-year) required Current Registered Nurse license valid in the State of Maine BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required Up-to-date CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training prior to start Minimum of 1 year mental health nursing experience required Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team Competent in stress management and decision-making under pressure Flexibility to provide 24/7 coverage as needed Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive psychiatric nursing care in the Emergency Psych Services department Develop, update, and implement individualized interdisciplinary care plans Assess and evaluate patient progress and outcomes regularly Identify and coordinate necessary patient resources Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals and support staff to optimize patient care quality Additional Information: Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the location to qualify Previous employment at the medical center disqualifies applicants Orientation includes up to 16 unpaid hours The facility retains the right to cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract period This contract position offers a challenging and rewarding environment for nurses passionate about mental health care.
