Airswift is seeking Data Analyst III for an initial 12 months to support a major O&G client.Location: Denver, CO Contract Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension Schedule: 9/80 - Hybrid We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our Rockies region team on a contract basis, providing dedicated analytical support to the Drilling & Completions (D&C) organization. This is a strategic role embedded within operations, where you will transform raw data into actionable insights that drive operational efficiency, well delivery performance, and capital optimization. The ideal candidate will become a trusted data partner to D&C leadership, engineers, and field personnel, delivering high-quality analytics, dashboards, and automated solutions that directly impact business outcomes. This role requires a seasoned professional who can work independently, solve complex problems, and communicate findings effectively at all levels, including executive management. Key Responsibilities:Data Analysis & Insights • Extract, analyze, and interpret complex datasets to derive insights that drive strategic business decisions. • Develop and maintain SQL queries against enterprise data systems (OXYODS, OpenWells, operational databases) to support D&C reporting and analysis. • Perform detailed analysis of drilling and completions performance, timelines, costs, and operational KPIs. • Translate technical findings into actionable business insights and recommendations. Dashboard Development & Visualization • Build, enhance, and manage Power BI and/or Spotfire dashboards for D&C and Operations teams. • Create insightful visualizations that communicate complex data clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Maintain dashboard integrity by troubleshooting issues, reconnecting data sources, and optimizing refresh performance. • Ensure reporting solutions align with enterprise BI standards. Process Automation & Optimization • Utilize automation tools to streamline data analysis and business processes. • Identify manual, repetitive processes and implement automated solutions. • Develop reusable SQL templates, stored procedures, and data pipelines for recurring analysis. • Continuously identify optimization opportunities in data workflows and reporting. Collaboration & Stakeholder Support • Work closely with D&C engineers, operations leads, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide analytical support. • Collaborate effectively with data engineers, data scientists, and IT teams. • Respond swiftly to ad-hoc data requests while maintaining quality standards. • Document data lineage, business logic, and reporting methodologies. Data Quality & Governance • Develop data validation queries and perform continuous QC across source systems. • Monitor data freshness and proactively flag anomalies. • Support master data management for wells, pads, assets, and operational hierarchies. Required Qualifications • 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or similar role. • 2+ years writing complex SQL queries in production environments, including creating new queries from scratch and optimizing existing ones. • 2+ years hands-on experience building and managing Power BI and/or Spotfire dashboards. • Experience supporting operations, engineering, or field teams in a data-intensive environment. Technical Skills: • Expert-level SQL including CTEs, subqueries, joins, aggregations, window functions, and string manipulation. • Proficiency in Power BI (preferred) or Spotfire for building dashboards and reports (required). • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling. • Proficiency in Excel for data manipulation and analysis. • Experience with version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps) for code management is a plus. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities in a data-intensive environment. • Ability to perform detailed analysis and translate complex data into clear business insights. • Strong attention to detail with focus on data accuracy and completeness. • Comfortable working with ambiguous requirements and iterating toward solutions. Communication & Collaboration • Excellent communication, presentation, and data storytelling skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate professionally at all levels, including executive management. • Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with engineers, operations, and business stakeholders. • Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Education • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or related field. Preferred Qualifications • Drilling & Completions knowledge and/or upstream oil & gas experience strongly preferred. • Experience with OpenWells or similar well data management systems (Landmark, PPDM-based applications). • Knowledge of oil & gas operational metrics including well-level data (API numbers, pads, formations, lateral lengths), drilling metrics (spud dates, drill days, directional surveys), and completion metrics (stages, proppant, pump schedules, frac timelines). • Programming skills in Python or R for advanced analytics and automation. • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) for workflow automation. • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS) WHAT YOU'LL WORK WITH • Stakeholders: Drilling & Completions, Operations, Field personnel, Business units, Regulatory, HSE • Databases: OXYODS, OpenWells, operational and financial planning systems • BI Tools: Power BI, Spotfire • Data Types: Drilling/completions data, well timelines, KPIs, cost data, milestone dates • Tools: SQL Server Management Studio, Excel, Power BI, Spotfire, Git/Azure DevOps #LI-GP2
