The Critical Care Unit at the Hospital of Central Connecticut features a 24-bed configuration, all in private rooms, staffed by Registered Nurses, Nurse Assistants, and Administrative Support with 24/7 physician and mid-level provider availability. Our unit boasts state-of-the-art technology, including Electronic Patient Records, and fosters collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams centered on patient care. Job Summary Under the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with a nurse preceptor and educator, the Registered Nurse Resident utilizes evidence-based practices in line with the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. This role involves developing comprehensive care plans that address the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of patients and their families. Qualifications Education: Completion of a formal nursing program; Associate's degree in Nursing. Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse, State of CT; Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer; additional certifications may be required for specific specialties. Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in English. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Applies nursing principles and practices. Capable of developing, delivering, and evaluating patient care. Gradually handles a full patient assignment with increasing responsibilities. Basic understanding of high reliability. Strong verbal and written communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and promote positive patient outcomes. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in interactions with patients, families, and coworkers. Possesses knowledge tailored to age-specific populations. Ability to work collaboratively in a team. Self-directed in clinical responsibilities. Ability to manage multiple clinical priorities. Proficient in basic computer skills and familiar with industry applications; capable of learning new technologies as they emerge.
