Lead Forklift Operator / Warehouse Lead - Job Description Position Summary The Lead Forklift Operator / Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations while actively operating material handling equipment. This position supports the supervisor by coordinating workflow, training employees, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining productivity and quality standards throughout the shift. Key Responsibilities Operate sit-down, stand-up, and/or reach forklifts to move materials safely Load and unload trucks accurately and efficiently Stage, pull, and organize orders according to shipping schedules Assign tasks and guide warehouse associates during the shift Train new employees on procedures, equipment use, and safety policies Monitor productivity and ensure daily goals are met Conduct equipment inspections and report maintenance issues Verify inventory counts and assist with cycle counts Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation Maintain a clean and organized warehouse (5S standards) Communicate with supervisors regarding workflow, shortages, or delays Enforce safety rules, PPE requirements, and OSHA compliance Qualifications 3+ years forklift experience (sit-down, stand-up, or reach) Previous lead or team-lead warehouse experience preferred Valid forklift certification (or ability to certify) Knowledge of shipping/receiving and inventory procedures Experience with RF scanners or warehouse management systems (WMS) Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment Strong leadership and communication skills Reliable attendance and punctuality Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for long periods Working in warehouse environment (hot/cold conditions)
