HVAC Field Service TechnicianNorthwest Illinois TerritoryOverviewWe’re looking for a skilled and motivated HVAC Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our clients’ facilities. If you enjoy a hands-on role with plenty of variety—working on HVAC systems, electrical equipment, mechanical components, and general building maintenance—this is a great opportunity to grow your career.You’ll service a variety of commercial buildings, using your technical expertise to diagnose issues, perform repairs, complete preventive maintenance, and keep facilities operating smoothly.What You’ll DoTechnical Maintenance & Repair Inspect, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair facility systems including: HVAC (window units to 20-ton systems) | Electrical | Boilers | Refrigeration | Motors | Pumps | Compressors | Lighting | Fire & safety systems Perform general building maintenance: plumbing, carpentry, painting, and snow removal. Operational Excellence Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation of all equipment. Use a CMMS to document tasks, maintain equipment history, and close work orders promptly. Apply national and local codes, ensuring all work meets OSHA, state, and municipal standards. Communication & Teamwork Support an on-call rotation (nights/weekends/holidays) for emergency response. Adapt to flexible scheduling as client needs evolve. Perform daily facility walkthroughs to identify issues proactively. Provide clear updates to supervisors, managers, and customers on repair status and equipment conditions. Work collaboratively with internal teams, customer departments, and external vendors. Participate in ongoing training and contribute to a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Essential Skills & Certifications Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems. Hands-on troubleshooting and repair expertise. Preventive maintenance experience. EPA Universal Certification (required). Boiler license (preferred). Experience using CMMS platforms. Additional Qualifications 2–5 years of experience in commercial facility maintenance or relevant technical roles. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and manuals. Solid computer skills; familiarity with Building Management Systems is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently. Detail-oriented mindset with an understanding of cost-efficient maintenance practices. Strong communication and customer service skills. Work EnvironmentThis is a field-based position covering northwestern Illinois. Expect to complete 3–5 work orders daily, focusing heavily on HVAC systems of all sizes. You’ll travel within a defined territory using a company gas card and work independently while staying connected with your team.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sycamore, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
