Works side by side with machinists, fabricators, assembly personnel, and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure process controls are adequate and are being followed by manufacturing personnel. Participates in new product development to establish process controls and product verification methods. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCommunications • Reads and comprehends instructions and correspondence; asks appropriate questions and performs the instructed task • Collaborates with Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and suppliers to establish practical measurement techniques to verify finished products comply with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing specified on TSI drawings. • Effectively and respectfully communicates with supervisor and coworkers in verbal and written formats. • Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations. • Influences and encourages a free flow of information between employees and management. • Effectively teaches technical and nontechnical aspects of jobs to employees with various levels of experience. • Acts as a role model in communications with employees and management. Documentation • Helps maintain the non-conformance process. • Assists in the development of work instructions, forms, and standard operating procedures. • Performs first article inspections. • Assists machinists and fabricators with critical/challenging measurements. • Completes daily inspections. • Completes all required process documentation in a coherent, legible and timely manner. Leadership • Acts in a respectful manner to customers, coworkers and supervisors. • Demonstrates a desire to progress in the company by taking initiative and assuming additional responsibilities. • Travel as required. • Demonstrates dependability through an excellent attendance record and timeliness; working overtime as needed or required. - Demonstrates troubleshooting and problem resolution skills. • Assists newer employees with work related issues through effective teaching, training and mentoring. • Highlights the importance of quality to employees. • Effectively leads employees while adhering to company policies and processes. Production • Manages own time to ensure he/she remains productive. • Capable of working independently and with others. • Conscientious about work quality. • Troubleshoot production issues to reduce down time and improve safety. • Refine process documentation to ensure lessons learned are carried forward. Safety and Risk Management • Use appropriate safety equipment and personal protection equipment. • Accepts accountability for own conduct and obligations. • Regularly follows all of Terra Sonic's safety policies as described in the Health & Safety Procedures Handbook. • Diligently follows all supplemental policies on which training has been provided. • Demonstrates consistent awareness for safety and risk issues. • Demonstrates an understanding of industry practices and applicable regulations. • Performs daily inspections of work area and participates in the resolution of safety concerns and/or equipment issues. • Ensures the well-being of coworkers by teaching and promoting safety rules and regulations. Technical - General • Demonstrates self-motivation, self-discipline and attention to detail. • Operates forklift to move material. • Blueprint reading to include the interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. • Ability to use MS Excel to make charts and analyze data. Technical - Job-Specific • Conducts periodic audits to verify compliance with procedures defined in Terra Sonic's QMS. • Performs capability studies to monitor performance and prevent process variation. • Performs gage repeatability and reproducibility studies to quantify the variability in the measurement system. • Proficient with measuring devices, micrometers, dial bore gauges, height gauges, optical comparator, coordinate measuring machine. • Performs calibration to measuring devices according to the calibration schedule. • Participates in the generation of work instructions and other documents instrumental to the improvement of Terra Sonic. • Conducts in-process inspections to ensure work instructions and processes are adhered to. • Conducts incoming inspections on high-risk parts or suppliers. Process Improvement • Possesses an understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles; eliminate waste, visual management, set up time reduction (SMED), etc. • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5s). • Actively support continuous process improvement (Kaizen); always, always look for ways to refine the process. • Track non-conformance costs, format data, recommend continuous improvement projects, coordinate project activity with department managers. • Track customer feedback, format data, present to department managers, promote activity that produces positive feedback, recommend corrective action projects to remedy unfavorable feedback. • Collect dimensional and attribute data associated with purchased components. Format data to aid in the assessment of supplier performance. • Evaluate process performance data to identify process variation and take appropriate steps to reduce variation. • Participate in process improvement projects to eliminate waste and reduce process variation. • Participate in the development of FMEA & control plans. • Participate in Lean/Six Sigma continuous improvement teams. • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC). Education and/or Experience • Associate's degree in an applied science or engineering field. • 3-years prior experience as Quality Engineer or Quality Technician in a Manufacturing facility. Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations • Forklift operator certificate required Language Skills Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Effectively speak before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Abilities Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
