Head Nurse (RN) - Overnight Music Camp & Summer School, Adirondacks Location: Westport, NY Employment Type: Full-Time, Seasonal (June 20 - August 7, 2026) About Client A prestigious overnight music camp and summer school in the Adirondack Mountains hosting aspiring musicians ages 10-30 from across the globe. Students train intensively in a close-knit community with access to full campus amenities. Health and safety are a top organizational priority throughout the season. Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $1,500-$1,700/week - Based on experience and qualifications; open to negotiation Relocation Assistance: Travel stipend included Shift: Full-time, on-site; rotating days off (typically weekends); on-call availability required as needed Benefits Package: Private air-conditioned room and board; all meals provided June 16-August 9; full access to on-campus amenities Job Summary Lead all health operations within a 3-bed infirmary for a fast-paced overnight music camp and school. The Head Nurse handles day-to-day medical needs, medication dispensing, and emergency response while coordinating with leadership and outside providers to deliver attentive, compassionate care. Key Responsibilities Set and enforce health and sanitation standards across the full campus Maintain a confidential daily medical log and accurate camper health records throughout the season Screen incoming campers and conduct ongoing health surveillance during the program Respond to medical emergencies; administer CPR and first aid as required Manage and dispense prescription and over-the-counter medications to campers and staff Convey health needs and medical protocols clearly to staff, faculty, and families Liaise with local hospitals, physicians, and pharmacies as needed Accompany and transport campers or staff to off-site medical appointments when necessary Keep the infirmary, equipment, and medical supplies clean, organized, and consistently ready for use Track communicable disease risks and take proactive steps to limit exposure within the community Minimum Requirements Current New York State RN license in good standing (or eligible for licensure) Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification Ability to live on-site and be available for on-call coverage as needed Experience working with individuals ages 10-30 in a clinical or youth-program setting Solid clinical assessment skills with confidence in independent decision-making Ideal Qualifications Background in camp or school nursing Personable and composed; communicates effectively with students, staff, and parents under pressure Collaborative working style; dependable teammate in high-stakes moments Wilderness First Aid certification a plus How to Apply At Rio Staffing, we specialize in connecting skilled professionals with well-run organizations and high-quality programs.
