Job Description

Key ResponsibilitiesDeveloper Experience & Platform Engineering Define, own, and execute the Developer Experience (DevEx) roadmap aligned with organizational goals. Design, build, and maintain internal developer platforms to standardize and simplify development workflows. Integrate and champion AI-assisted tools such as AI code generation, intelligent code review, automated documentation, and workflow automation. Evaluate emerging AI development tools and incorporate them into existing engineering workflows. Drive best practices for Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, local development tooling, and cloud-native deployments. Reduce cognitive load by abstracting infrastructure complexities and enabling safe, autonomous self-service capabilities. Build and optimize self-service provisioning, testing, and deployment pipelines. Partner with product teams to optimize feedback loops, improving iteration speed and release quality. Measure and improve DORA, SPACE, and developer productivity metrics using data-driven insights. Lead developer enablement programs, including training, demos, and onboarding for DevEx solutions. Embed security, compliance, and observability best practices into developer tools and processes. Ensure safe and compliant usage of AI tools aligned with NFCU's AI governance. Advocate for a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence. Platform & Data Engineering Modernize and transform core data assets across SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-native data platforms. Design and implement efficient data flows, transformations, and data exchange pipelines. Work with complex and inconsistent datasets; collaborate with upstream teams to ensure quality. Define cost-efficient data storage strategies for CI/CD and platform data repositories. Architect reusable data assets, data catalogs, and expose them via Azure API Apps or visualization platforms. Aggregate, process, and analyze structured and unstructured data to provide actionable insights. Implement advanced observability-monitoring, logging, tracing-across developer workflows and data pipelines. Required Qualifications 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in DevEx, platform engineering, or DevOps. Proven success delivering developer productivity and platform initiatives at scale. Strong experience with cloud-native engineering: Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, Kubernetes, CI/CD. Expertise with AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, OpenAI API, AI test automation, etc.). Deep understanding of software delivery and productivity metrics (DORA, SPACE). Advanced programming proficiency (Java, Go, Python, etc.) and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform). Experience launching and shaping platform/DX functions; ability to influence technical direction. Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities. Extensive Azure experience: Azure SQL, Cosmos DB/NoSQL, Azure APIs, Event Hub, Stream Analytics, Storage, Log Analytics. Experience with observability stacks (ELK, Splunk, Logz.io). Automation and scripting expertise (PowerShell, Python, YAML). Competency with cloud monitoring (Azure App Insights, Log Analytics/KQL). AWS experience: EC2, S3, EMR, and cloud data migrations. Preferred Qualifications Background working in multi-team engineering environments with a focus on developer enablement. Familiarity with Team Topologies, cognitive load reduction strategies, and platform thinking. Experience integrating observability and monitoring into developer-facing platforms. Event-driven architecture and microservices experience. Knowledge of secure software supply chain practices (SBOMs, artifact signing, vulnerability scanning). Experience with BI tools and dashboards (Tableau, Business Objects). Experience with DevOps tooling (Maven, Jenkins, Stash, Ansible, Docker). Practical exposure to Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban).
