Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Location: Columbia, SC Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift - 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend Job Responsibilities and Required/Preferred Skills and Requirements The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for providing respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients in an acute care hospital setting. The therapist will assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities: Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions. Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and inhaled medications. Manage and monitor ventilatory support including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC). Assist with airway management procedures including suctioning, tracheostomy care, extubation, and intubation assistance. Support high-risk deliveries and provide respiratory care in neonatal and pediatric environments when required. Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and monitor patient response to respiratory treatments. Assist physicians during procedures such as bronchoscopy. Administer respiratory medications including bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, and specialty medications such as nitric oxide therapy. Set up and manage respiratory equipment including nebulizers, aerosol systems, metered-dose inhalers, and ventilators. Maintain accurate documentation using electronic medical record systems. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and respiratory care teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Float between campuses when required to support patient care needs. Required Qualifications & Skills: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification. South Carolina state license required at start. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required. Experience working in adult critical care and emergency department settings. Proficiency with ventilator management, CPAP, BiPAP, and respiratory therapy equipment. Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and perform respiratory assessments. Experience with Epic electronic medical record system. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Experience in NICU and pediatric respiratory care. Experience assisting with bronchoscopy procedures. Familiarity with respiratory medication administration including albuterol, inhaled steroids, nitric oxide therapy, and bronchodilators. Strong skills in airway management, suctioning, tracheostomy care, and ventilator troubleshooting.
