JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance/CNC Technician is responsible for performing a variety of hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement functions on CNC machinery, plant equipment, and facility systems. This position supports production objectives by ensuring equipment safety, reliability, maximum uptime, and quality performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This individual must be self-motivated and capable of working with limited direction while adhering to company safety, quality, and environmental standards. Areas of responsibility include CNC equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, hobbing equipment, saws, etc.), auxiliary equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, and electrical systems. Contributes to a positive working culture, builds strong relationships, and lives out the values of integrity, collaboration, and accountability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform preventative maintenance and repair work on CNC machines including but not limited to mills, lathes, grinders, hobbing equipment, saws, and auxiliary equipment. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and servo systems using technical manuals, schematics, engineering prints, and diagnostic tools. Diagnose issues using electrical test equipment and resolve electrical and control-related problems. Calibrate and align machine components to meet precision tolerances. Adhere strictly to LOTO procedures and all plant safety standards. Maintain ownership of assigned preventative maintenance tasks and ensure completion in alignment with production schedules. Update and track machine repairs, downtime logs, and parts usage in the maintenance management system. Collaborate with machine operators and supervisors to identify recurring equipment issues and implement corrective actions. Assist with machine installation, upgrades, relocations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Fabricate and implement tooling and fixturing as needed. Monitor levels of perishable tooling and communicate replenishment needs. Maintain a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and safe work practices. COMPETENCIES: Strong troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of CNC machining technology, manufacturing equipment, and facility maintenance systems. Ability to read and understand diagrams, blueprints, ladder logic, schematics, and technical manuals for mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and CNC control systems (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens preferred). Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment to analyze and resolve issues. Basic welding skills and use of cutting torches. Ability to perform light fabrication and machine alignments using precision measuring tools. Hands-on aptitude with CNC programming (emphasis on M-Code) and machine operation familiarity a plus. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team-centered environment. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Performs repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, and upper body while packing, unpacking, loading, and unloading shipped goods and printed inventory. Requires dexterity of fingers to gather and pack items for shipment and enter data into computer. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, dirt/dust, and pressurized systems. Day, evening, and weekend shifts may be required depending on production needs. Overtime as required. Following a successful training period on 1st shift, employees may have the opportunity to transition to 2nd, 3rd, or a split shift based on business needs and mutual agreement. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Climbing, pushing/pulling, and driving locally as required. Ability to move throughout the plant and work around mechanical and electrical equipment. RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance troubleshooting and repair experience in a manufacturing environment servicing CNC equipment. Post-high school education/training in electronics preferred. Welding coursework or fabrication training a plus. Specific knowledge of Fanuc, Haas, or Siemens controls preferred. Extensive electrical troubleshooting experience required. Certified electrician a plus. Prior experience with CNCs, paper machines, printing presses, or other manufacturing processing machines preferred. Computer literate in Windows-based systems. Forklift operating certification a plus. Licenses/Credentials/Certifications Valid Driver's license with no minor moving violations within the most recent 36-month period and no major violations or suspensions in the most recent 60-month period.
