Facilities Mechanic - 1st Shift - $28-30 - Reading, PAJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Facilities Mechanic to maintain and repair building and facility systems, including water, refrigeration, HVAC, air, and fire systems. This role is crucial to ensuring our facilities are operating efficiently and safely, aligning with all GMP, safety, and professional quality standards.Responsibilities Troubleshoot recurring breakdowns and recommend procedure changes for prevention. Utilize testing equipment and diagnostic skills to identify the root cause of problems. Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including replacing belts and filters and coil cleaning. Conduct roof maintenance, including preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and drain maintenance. Carry out preventive maintenance on refrigeration towers. Monitor boiler and cooling tower water treatment, maintaining comprehensive logs. Complete minor building repairs, painting, lamp replacement, minor electrical repairs, and replacement of pumps and motors. Maintain thorough documentation of all work performed using maintenance management software. Maintain knowledge of waste water treatment plant operation as a back-up primary operator. Assist maintenance mechanics in support of production as needed. Ensure a clean and safe work area at all times, adhering to GMPs. Perform mechanical, electrical, and housekeeping tasks to ensure proper operation of the waste water treatment plant and related sump feed system. Maintain proper chemical tolerance of the waste water treatment plant. Perform preventive maintenance on the waste water treatment plant. Respond to operational issues with the ammonia refrigeration system. Maintain a current and accurate log of operations, including specific water and chemical readings, in accordance with municipal regulations. Essential Skills Knowledge in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, basic computer operations, safety procedures, welding, plumbing, and refrigeration. Ability to wear personal respirator and/or self-contained breathing apparatus. Self-starter with the ability to work effectively as a team player. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all staff. Willingness and availability to work overtime or on an emergency "on call" basis. Excellent attendance record. Proficiency in English for receiving and comprehending written and verbal job and safety instructions, as well as hazardous material labeling. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in facilities maintenance, plumbing, and maintenance repair. Ability to use a variety of hand tools, powered tools, and powered material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts. Work EnvironmentWork during the 1st shift from 7am to 3:30pm, Tuesday to Saturday. Utilize a variety of hand tools, powered tools, and powered material handling equipment in a dynamic and supportive environment. Be prepared to meet safety standards and wear appropriate safety equipment when necessary.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Reading, PA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
