Job Description

Description Join us in shaping the future of Electronic Warfare. We are searching for an innovative Algorithm Development Engineer to contribute to our mission of protecting national security and enhancing the capabilities of our warfighters. This exciting opportunity involves design, development, and hardware/software integration in our Electronic Warfare Division. Our division focuses on research & development and advanced prototyping, turning cutting-edge processing algorithms into real-time software systems. Be part of a dynamic team of engineers working collaboratively in agile environments to meet aggressive timelines for field demonstrations. At Leidos, we employ our unique hardware-software co-design methodology to create custom System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for high-performance applications. As an Algorithm Development Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing sophisticated signal processing applications designed to enhance the warfighter's capabilities in complex electronic warfare scenarios. You’ll work on massively parallelized pipelines to meet stringent real-time requirements on Leidos SoCs, collaborating closely with engineers from diverse fields including signal processing, embedded systems, and RF teams. Your responsibilities will include: Collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams to design and develop advanced systems, involving software, systems engineering, hardware, firmware, RF front end design, and signal processing experts. Creating, testing, and implementing C applications in real-time environments. Analyzing and understanding signal processing algorithms developed in MATLAB. Porting signal processing algorithms from MATLAB, Python, or C++ to C for execution in multi-core environments on Leidos SoCs. Optimizing C code for Digital Signal Processing (DSP) applications leveraging SIMD, VLIW, or hardware accelerators to achieve real-time performance. Developing Hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) tests to validate signal processing algorithms. Effectively communicating technical details and solutions with engineers both internally and externally. Supporting system field testing and data collection events, typically lasting about a week once or twice a year. At Leidos, we foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation. If you are passionate about technology and believe you have the skills required for this role, we encourage you to apply. Basic qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. 8+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on C/C++ for embedded systems. Solid understanding of linear algebra and probability. Strong grasp of basic signal processing concepts including Fourier transforms, filtering, and complex arithmetic. Knowledge of hardware-software interaction and computer architecture. Experience with MATLAB and signal processing algorithms. Familiarity with build tools like GCC, CMake, or Make. Experience with version control systems and continuous integration tools. Knowledge of software testing methodologies and tools. Ability to document and maintain technical documentation clearly. Strong communication skills and comfort in a Linux development environment. Active Secret level security clearance and capability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. Bonus qualifications: Master's Degree in a relevant field and 6+ years of experience. Additional active security clearance at the Secret level or higher. Familiarity with additional programming languages, specifically MATLAB. Experience with parallel processing and RF signal processing. Experience using GitLab or similar tools for tracking and managing tasks. If you seek an opportunity to innovate, challenge conventions, and contribute to high-stakes missions, you’ll fit right in at Leidos. Explore your potential with us! Work Location: San Diego, CA
