Position Type: Admin - Facilitator Level/Specialist (Auxiliary) Date Posted: 8/15/2025 Location: Safety & Security Professional Compensation Plan Salary Range: $67,588 - $81,430 per/Year Shift Type: Full-Time Wage/Hour Status: 226/Professional Pay Plan/PG-2 Reports To: Coordinator of Safety and Security EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible PRIMARY PURPOSE: To manage, monitor, direct, and lead the district's physical security systems and procedures at all campuses and facilities. The Security Manager will provide daily direction and guidance to building/campus managers, MISD unarmed guards and armed guards to ensure school security best practices and MISD procedures are implemented effectively. The Security Manager will ensure MISD is in compliance with all statutory facility standards and maintain required documentation. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or similar degree related to school safety and security administration is preferred Former or currently Licensed Peace Officer required Basic SRO certification preferred School Based Law Enforcement certification required Professional certifications in security related fields preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Considerable knowledge of the principles of state and local policies and procedures regarding the administration of school safety and security and emergency management programs Knowledge of standard methods and procedures of emergency and disaster operations Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and codes in safety and security and emergency management Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing emergency and disaster plans Possess the ability to interpret NIMS, state and local emergency management documents preferred Ability to work effectively with staff, emergency services, and the public in a multicultural community Ability to analyze data, create charts and graphs and write reports Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity of information Strong public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Understanding of a School Resource Officer (SRO) program Understanding of the Standard Response Protocols and Standard Reunification Method Experience: Minimum 10 years law enforcement experience required Minimum 3 years as School Resource Officer experience required School district safety and security experience preferred School Behavioral Threat Assessment experience preferred CPTED experience preferred ICS/NIMS training and experience required Instructor/training experience preferred MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Direct and manage unarmed secondary guards and armed elementary guards Monitor, track, and compile all reports, records, and other documents as required by law, policy, and/or the Texas School Safety Center. Assist with maintaining the District's Multi-hazard Emergency Operations Plan in accordance with governing mandates and is fully implemented throughout the District Review, evaluate and update the MISD Disaster Management plan to improve the district's ability to respond to and recover from the effects of major disaster conditions Ensure compliance with applicable Texas Education Code (TEC) federal and state laws and compatibility with city, county, state and federal plans Develop and maintain inventory of disaster- related resources within the school district Conduct regular site-visits to ensure district safety and security procedures are being followed. Collect and analyze safety and security data for annual audit report. Conduct district and campus training to include workshops, tabletop exercises, and campus staff training/drills Coordinate with district personnel and local emergency management partners to plan and conduct joint training and exercises Attend MISD school safety and security committee meetings when needed Ensure school safety, security and emergency management programs are supportive of the instructional goals of the District and help in accomplishing the mission of the district Promote a positive, caring climate for working and learning Assess and respond to needs related to job responsibilities Conduct risk assessments on District facilities Maintain positive relationships between district, police, and fire departments as it relates to the needs of our students Maintain strong working relationships, to include community-based programs, between the District and the community to ensure school safety is a shared responsibility, and to improve trust between the District and community Assist Director in identifying and developing training options and/or improvement plans to ensure effective operations and best practices in the area of safety, security, and emergency management Attend after hour district facilities and athletic events when needed Assist Director in the coordination, development, and management of all disaster and emergency planning, in collaboration with appropriate district departments Track school compliance with all drills and exercises required by law as well as those mandated in the District's Multi-hazard Emergency Operations Plan (e.g. lockdown, secure, hold, shelter, evacuate) Member of District behavioral threat assessment team Perform other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assigned staff - unarmed security guards, as needed WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress Ability to work with frequent interruptions Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively at all times and especially in stressful situations Physical demands/environmental factors: Frequent district wide travel Occasional prolonged and/or irregular hours
