SUMMARY: The Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing the physical manipulation of mail and small parcels in our Distribution Center. You'll ensure operational excellence, meeting both customer and internal requirements efficiently and safely. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assign work to team members, set deadlines, and manage performance in line with company policies. Supervise the processing of mail and small parcels to achieve profitability and quality goals. Foster a collaborative and empowering team environment while maintaining fairness and consistency. Ensure effective staffing levels correspond to mail/small parcel volumes and manage attendance. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and training to team members. Monitor facility equipment performance to align with production standards. Support the implementation of the DHL eCommerce Distribution Center Business Plan, ensuring timely fulfillment. Review productivity, KPI, and quality metrics to address any shortfalls. Propose enhancements for production methods and workplace conditions to boost efficiency. Lead safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with DHL's safety policies and facilitate employee training. Assist HR in recruiting and onboarding new team members. Maintain communication with on-site postal clerks and stay informed about postal regulations. Perform other related duties as needed. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: PREFERRED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Familiarity with Small Parcel Logistics. Knowledge and experience in enhancing operations quality and safety. Experience implementing process improvement tools like 5S. A proven track record in supervising and improving production standards. MINIMUM REQUIRED: High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience or 1 year in DHL eCommerce Operations Trainer/Quality role. At least 2 years of experience in a distribution or similar environment. Understanding of operational quality and safety programs. REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong leadership and organizational capabilities. Ability to motivate and hold team members accountable to production goals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills adaptable to various audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The role requires exposure to varied temperatures and noise levels typical of a warehouse environment. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs, with additional weight manageable with assistance. Frequent walking throughout the facility to supervise employees.
