Job Description The Role: As our Assistant Controller, you'll play a key role in maintaining the finacial integrity of our operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic decision-making. As the Assistant Controller, your duties in this position include: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP) in a timely and accurate manner. Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, including journal entries and month-end close processes. Support the Treasurer and Asst. Treasurer with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in enhancing financial policies and procedures. Collaborate with auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders during audits and examinations. Prepare and file regulatory and statutory reports as required by state insurance departments. Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for performance improvement. Assist in implementing and maintaining accounting systems and software enhancements. Support tax preparation, investment accounting, and cash management activities. Mentor and oversee the work of junior accounting staff or clerks, as needed. Ad-hoc reports and analysis, as needed. Other projects and duties, as assigned. Qualifications What You'll Bring: CPA License or CPA Candidate required. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's degree preferred 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance in Insurance industry. Solid understanding of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) Superior attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask multiple priorities effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain relationships. Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical capabilities. Proficient in Microsoft Operating Systems and Office products including, but not limited to Outlook and Teams.
