Targeted patient ratios are 1:4-6. The unit utilizes a team nursing model where registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and patient care technicians collaborate to care for a group of patients. Nurses may function in either team nursing or primary nursing based on the unit's needs. The responsibilities include staffing high-risk respiratory beds and floating to the neuro ICU as necessary. Nurses are expected to provide care for various patient conditions, including cerebrovascular accidents, transient ischemic attacks, seizures, and other neurosciences-related issues. The unit supports various interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Special equipment utilized in this role includes heated high flow devices and BiPAP systems. Candidates must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the role. Travel experience is preferred and candidates will be required to float to other units as deemed necessary.
