Position Type: Human Resources and Professional Learning Date Posted: 2/18/2026 Location: District Office Date Available: 08/24/2026 Closing Date: Until Filled The Winnetka Public Schools District 36 has an opening for a full-time Professional Learning Coordinator (Anticipated) for the 2026-2027 School Year.Job Title: Professional Learning CoordinatorPosition: CertifiedFTE: 1.0 FTECharacteristics: 9-month contract (182 days) 1.0 FTE Evaluation: Evaluated annually by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Professional Learning Supervises: N/A (collaborates across departments and with staff at all levels) Location: District Administration Office Position Summary: The Professional Learning Coordinator is responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of high-quality professional learning experiences for certified and classified staff across the District. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that professional learning aligns with District goals, supports effective teaching and learning, and provides meaningful growth opportunities for all staff. The Coordinator will collaborate with multiple departments, organize large-scale professional development events, help organize CPDU opportunities in alignment with state requirements, and contribute to the development of the District's internal professional learning program, Winnetka University. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIESProfessional Learning Coordination Plan, coordinate, and monitor professional development offerings for certified staff, associates (paraprofessionals), and administrators. Collaborate with the Department of Innovation, Teaching, and Learning and the Department of Student Services, Equity, and Inclusion to ensure PD offerings address both general education and special education needs. Coordinate professional development days (Institute Days, biannual Summer Institute), including scheduling, logistics, and communication with presenters. Develop, maintain, and expand Winnetka University to provide meaningful internal PD opportunities aligned with District initiatives. Professional Learning Delivery Design and deliver professional learning sessions in areas such as instructional strategies, inclusive practices, and equity-focused teaching. Provide professional development for associates (paraprofessionals), general education teachers, and special education staff. Apply principles of adult learning and instructional coaching to professional learning design and facilitation. Oversee and assist with creation of the Winnetka Professional Learning Calendar (ie. early release planning with administrators/staff) Compliance and Credit Hours Serve as the District's resource for state requirements related to professional development credit hours for teacher certification/recertification. Monitor, track, and verify staff completion of professional development activities for ISBE compliance. Coordinate at least one Admin Academy on-site for administrators. Oversee annual compliance tutorials (Public School Works platform) for all staff. Collaboration and Support Work collaboratively with administrators, instructional coaches, and teacher leaders to identify professional learning needs and design responsive programming. Participate in monthly District Coaches Meetings to learn alongside on-site professional developers, occasionally facilitating sessions. Partner with external consultants, professional organizations, and higher education institutions as needed. Support districtwide initiatives by aligning PD opportunities to the strategic plan, curriculum priorities, and equity goals. Organize and oversee scheduling of the Winnetka Parent's Institute and SPARK first year professional learning opportunities. Assist the Winnetka University Coordinator with the support and tracking of classes/hours. Assisting with coordination of observation/practicum/internship requests as they are submitted by universities. Collaborate with new staff members as part of the onboarding process to ensure plans are in place for Professional Learning needs in various roles across the District. Assist building/District administrators in review of Professional Learning reflections and future implementation and/or sharing of best practices. Other Duties Stay current on best practices in adult learning, professional development, instructional coaching, and special education supports. Support efforts of the District in recognition of staff for their efforts and service throughout the year including the culminating event (Retirement and Recognition Event). Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources & Professional Learning and the Superintendent.. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/ QUALIFICATIONSRequired: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with administrative endorsement or eligibility. Master's degree in education, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or related field. Successful teaching experience (minimum 5 years). Knowledge of instructional coaching practices and adult learning theory. Experience planning and/or delivering professional development. Preferred: Administrative or leadership experience. Experience supporting both general education and special education staff. Familiarity with Illinois professional development requirements and teacher certification processes. Strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills. Ability to interpret and apply state and federal policies and regulations. Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to compliance details. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative problem-solving skills. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to plan and execute professional learning aligned with district goals. Strong facilitation and presentation skills for diverse audiences. Knowledge of effective instructional practices, equity frameworks, and inclusive supports. Collaborative leadership style with ability to partner across departments. Excellent project management, organization, and technology skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSManual Dexterity: Work requires definite, skilled, and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordinated performance. Physical effort: Work requires handling average-weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods. Working Conditions: Travel among schools in the Winnetka School District is required. WORKING CONDITIONSWork is performed in district offices, schools, and community preschool settings. Travel between district and community partner sites is required. Occasional evening or weekend hours for family engagement, professional development, or Board meetings. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary and fringe benefits will be set in accordance with the Winnetka Professional Agreement and reviewed annually by the School Board.
