Assistant Professor of Construction Management Posted on 1/16/2026 Accepting applications About this position The School of Architecture (SoA) at Florida Southern College invites applications for a 9-month, Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Construction Management position beginning fall 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to building national and international recognition for the school and college and promote a collaborative culture for the mutual benefit of the institution and the internal/external communities it serves. Florida Southern College is home to the most extensive single-client collection of Frank Lloyd Wright-designed structures and landscapes worldwide. The School of Architecture exists to perpetuate Frank Lloyd Wright's vision of a more profound, graceful, thoughtful, and creative society by inspiring new generations to realize their full imaginative potential to become a catalyst for change. The SoA is a relatively new unit within the college currently offering a Bachelor of Architecture degree, and is seeking to expand into the area of Construction Management. We are a faculty and staff who are small in number, yet great in motivation, working to provide students with a quality education by providing the assistance they need to succeed academically, while preparing for the challenges they can expect in the professional world. We are seeking candidates who share our commitment to teaching excellence and who are grounded in professional experience. Responsibilities The incumbent of this position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Architecture and is responsible for promoting the advancement of the mission and vision of Florida Southern College and the School of Architecture. Primary areas of responsibility include teaching, scholarship, and service to the college. The successful candidate will be expected to: Lead the writing and development of a 4-year bachelor's in construction management curriculum; Shepherd the program through college curriculum approvals, SACS-COC program approval, and ACCE accreditation; Teach undergraduate courses in the School of Architecture in alignment with their experience; Engage in service to the school, college, profession, and community Participate in curriculum development, implementation, evaluation/assessment, and program improvement Participate in accreditation processes at the school and college level Participate in faculty governance by serving on program, school, and college committees and workgroups Participate in the recruitment and selection of qualified faculty, staff, and mentors Participate in the recruitment and admission of students Participate in School of Architecture and College activities and celebrations Serve as a liaison and ambassador to engage professional practice and industry partners Support the learning needs and success of students from diverse backgrounds Collaborate within and across departments and schools within the College to promote the vision and goals of the College Contribute to the success of the College and the School of Architecture by performing other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Architecture About our ideal candidate Possess a terminal degree in construction management or closely related field from an accredited institution Possess collaborative skills to work in a team setting Experience administering or teaching in an ACCE accredited CM program, and knowledge of the program approval and accreditation processes within the higher education environment. Ability to manage tasks and processes including developing and implementing new course content Demonstrate five years of relevant professional experience in the United States construction industry or comparable international experience. (Individuals with an earned doctorate in construction or a construction-related field may receive credit for the equivalent of two years of professional construction experience). Ability to communicate effectively, work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators, conduct themselves professionally, and perform appropriate service functions at the department, school, and college levels. Specialization in a scholarly area that addresses topics applicable to the construction industry and demonstrated ability and commitment to pursue teaching excellence. Demonstrated Excellent interpersonal, written, graphic, and oral communication skills. Demonstrated record of scholarly activities that contribute to the field of construction management. Professional certifications or licenses related to the construction industry. 3 years of relevant professional experience in project management, preferred. A teaching specialization in one of the following areas but not limited to: building systems, materials and methods, building information modeling (design and construction), building structures or structural engineering, and project management.
