This contractor opportunity is for a Director of Pharmacy role based in Indianapolis, Indiana, supporting a behavioral health inpatient facility. This leadership position requires hands-on pharmacy management skills, with an emphasis on maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and ensuring excellent medication dispensing processes. Location: Indianapolis, IN (local candidates preferred; travel expenses may be considered) Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM On-call coverage during weekdays and potentially on weekends Key Responsibilities: Oversee pharmacy operations with an emphasis on inpatient behavioral health services Verify medication orders and dispense medications, including controlled substances Manage automated dispensing systems (Pyxis) and order entry (HCS) with training available if needed Ensure adherence to Joint Commission, CMS, and state board of pharmacy regulations Provide leadership in staffing and pharmacy workflow Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative teams to maintain compliance and quality Prepare for and support ongoing Joint Commission surveys and audits Qualifications and Desired Experience: Valid Indiana pharmacist license in good standing Proven leadership experience in an inpatient pharmacy setting Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (Joint Commission, CMS, state pharmacy board) Experience with inpatient behavioral health pharmacy preferred Ability to manage automated dispensing cabinets and order entry systems (training provided) Excellent communication and organizational skills Additional Details: Business casual or scrubs dress code Contract position running from March 30, 2026, through June 30, 2026, or until permanent placement is secured No pharmacy technician support available; hands-on leadership required Onsite training will be provided, with support from the outgoing director and remote assistance from assistant directors of pharmacy A professional and dedicated pharmacy leader with a passion for inpatient behavioral health is encouraged to apply.
