The College's campus is located in West Baltimore and courses are offered throughout the City. With its broad range of degree, certificate, and continuing education programs, affordable tuition, and extensive outreach, BCCC offers educational opportunities to the citizens of Baltimore City and throughout the state of Maryland. BCCC serves over 7,500students annually, providing credits that transfer to four-year colleges and universities as well as workforce training leading directly to job placement. Description/Job Summary Under the direction of the Dean of Business, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, the Associate Dean is the academic and administrative lead within the Business and Technology disciplines. The Associate Dean is responsible for developing, coordinating, assessing, and administering the academic programs and activities within each discipline. With the assistance of the program coordinators, the Associate Dean ensures the relevance and vitality of programs; develops departmental plans; encourages professional development opportunities for faculty and staff and champions teaching excellence. In consultation with the Dean, the Associate Dean has the responsibility to oversee resource allocation, personnel, and educational and scholarly objectives of the programs and curricula in the department. The position is responsible for collaborating with appropriate faculty in the preparation of program and departmental budgets; supervising and coordinating personnel management matters, determining faculty load assignments, and organizing and supervising program and departmental development efforts. Responsibilities/DutiesAssist with the management of personnel, schedules, resources, and data to meet the needs of the division and enhance the educational effectiveness of programs and services. Recommend instructional and general policies, conduct meetings to facilitate planning, data analysis and collegial decision-making. Maintain current knowledge of new trends and innovations in community colleges and higher education. Provide leadership for the department including course and program level Student Learning Outcomes Assessment, Program Review and Evaluation. Facilitate partnerships with high schools to expand the dual enrollment program. Promote excellence in teaching and innovation in curriculum development. Facilitate academic partnerships among program faculty and four-year transfer institutions. Assist with recruiting and hiring adjunct faculty/instructors for the division. Conduct faculty evaluations and manage the process and archiving of all faculty evaluations. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned professional and support staff. Assist the Dean in providing leadership to prepare students for success that meets the stated requirements within the Code of Maryland Regulation (COMAR), Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), and where appropriate, other accrediting bodies such as Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Work with faculty to identify grant resources to support program development and special projects. Work with the Dean and the Assistant Vice President for Curriculum and Instruction to manage content for the college catalog. Required QualificationsEducation: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a BSTEM discipline (Accounting, Business, Computer Information Systems, Computer Aided Drafting and Design, Construction Supervision, Cyber Security and Assurance, and Office Administration) Experience: Three (3) years of progressive leadership experience at the Associate Dean, Department Chair, Division Head, Center Director level or above with a proven record of full-time faculty supervision, which must include the following: Course and program development and review Developing and coordinating course schedules, curriculum, and instruction Faculty and staff performance review Five (5) years of full-time teaching in a college/university within a discipline in the business and technology areas with an earned faculty rank at the assistant professor level or above. Additional Requirements: Teaching - may be required to teach up to two courses per semester Preferred QualificationsDoctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a BSTEM discipline (Accounting, Business, Computer Information Systems, Computer Aided Drafting and Design, Construction Supervision, Cyber Security and Assurance, and Office Administration) Five (5) years of experience at the Associate Dean, Department Chair, Division Head, or Center Director level or above with a proven record of full-time faculty supervision. Developing public and/or private partnerships and securing external funding. Developing relationships with high schools to develop or expand dual enrollment programs. Instructional Design, including technology-enhanced methods of course delivery. Experience implementing collective bargaining agreements. Experience working with Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) or other program accreditation body. Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesUnderstanding of shared governance and commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college. Collaborative leadership style; applies creativity and flexibility in problem solving. Current knowledge of best practices in curriculum development and course/program assessment and institutional/specialized accreditation. Understanding of innovative pedagogy and instructional design. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in the use of research, statistical analysis, and information technologies. Proficiency in the use of software and technology such as Microsoft Office, Google, and Adobe Suites. Proven ability to provide leadership in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. Track record of success in ensuring implementation of student learning outcomes and assessment of student learning. Understanding of educational principles, learning methodologies, and academic standards to promote academic excellence.
