Description Job Overview: The Vice President of Community Management is a believer and active supporter of FirstService Residential's philosophies and culture to staff, client, and community. As a result of job performance to be responsible for client retention, employee retention, and the advancement of FirstService Residential and FirstService Residential's client services in terms of its image, visibility, reputation, diversification, professionalism, and technology. To guide the overall community management division of FirstService Residential for current productivity as well as future opportunities. To be aware of and share with key associates an awareness of external factors, internal factors, best business practices, optimum use of resources and forethought for the future; while also listening to associates to capture and incorporate their best thinking on pertinent aspects of guiding the business. Salary: $140K-$155K Plus Bonus FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future Job Responsibilities: Participate in the Community Management Council. Assists other management team members in the recruiting, hiring, and separation of personnel. In conjunction with direct reports, including General Managers, Regional Directors as applicable, and the Executive Vice President of Community Management, strategize account assignments within area of responsibility and accepts responsibility for same through adherence to implementation schedule and management support of the transition. Manages budget and approves expenditures for area of responsibility. Provides year-end input to corporate budget and in particular, to those line items within area of responsibility. Reviews and approves payroll for area of responsibility and timely submits to payroll department for processing. As community and industry involvement are important to FirstService Residential's business philosophy, participates in at least one outside committee (i.e.: CAI, CACM, BIA, HBC, Chamber, Rotary, United Way, etc.). Commits to attending all designated company meetings and events as well as supervisor meetings, area of responsibility team meetings, and others that may be promulgated from time to time. Works collectively with Executive Vice President and colleagues on strategies to effect and implement new company procedures, policy changes, etc. Follows quality system procedures. Lead responsibility to coordinate best practices, innovation, creative thinking and implementation of business practices in the management of dual governance model corporations throughout the company. Participation in Business Development activities including attendance at local trade shows, CAI events, opportunities with vendors that allow for networking and solicitation of new business. Driving sales efforts to gain new business including supporting and/or delivering sales presentations to potential clients. Interaction with Marketing for specific regional marketing plans to enhance company brand and drive sales opportunities. Drive the performance targets for sales goals for each region. Is a leader in developing a strategy to alleviate loss of employee and presenting the strategy to the Executive Vice President. Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills. Exhibits excellent and proven oral presentation and written communication skills. Keeps pulse on overall operations and mood of FirstService Residential and FirstService Residential clients. Aware of the balance of emphasis necessary between client, employee and company; thus allowing balanced decisions as well as personal availability to intervene and participate as beneficial in client and/or employee issues. Recognizes strengths and weaknesses of key staff members and adjusts job descriptions, positions, and training accordingly in order to maximize the return on human potential to benefit both employee retention as well as company performance Successful supervisory experience as documented in personnel file. Proven leadership skills as documented in personnel file. Excellent attendance and punctuality to the office as well as any/all company meetings, client meetings and other activities. Proven ability to work well under pressure and deadlines as documented in personnel file. Demonstrates ability to train and educate staff. Knowledge of Microsoft Applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in English. Excellent general math skills. Ability to think and work independently as well as part of a team. Use of good judgment, critical thinking skills and business “savvy” Education & Experience: College degree preferred or equivalent experience in management. Minimum of 15 years of successful homeowner association property management experience 10 years or more of supervision of staff Certified Community Association Manager or CMCA preferred Valid California Driver’s License and State Mandated Vehicle Insurance Physical Requirements and Working Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be mobile enough to walk the facilities, including up and down stairs and exterior grounds and navigate uneven surfaces. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with clients, guests, co-workers and supervisors. Hours over and above normal office hours will be required, based on business needs. Consistent and regular attendance required.
