This is a required skill for any RN in this position. The patient ratio during the day/evening shifts is 5 to 1, with the potential to stretch to 6-7. Night ratios are expected to be 6-7 to 1, and can stretch to 8-10 if staffing issues arise. Patient Care Technicians are available on all units for vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and assistance with activities of daily living. Position requires interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Knowledge of the use of Rapid Response Teams is essential. Skills in peripheral line care/management, as well as non-invasive airway management, are necessary. Experience with oxygen administration, including nasal cannulas and face masks, is required. Isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) knowledge are essential. Understanding of computerized documentation is expected. Candidates must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs. Travelers should be flexible with scheduling but preferred block schedules may not be guaranteed. Local candidates are not accepted within a 75-mile radius. A maximum of one week of request time off is allowed during the contract period. Background policies will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Previous charge experience is preferred. Experience with the Epic charting system is required.
