Job Title: Linux/Unix - Platform EngineerLocation: Cincinnati, OH - Day 1onsiteJob Description: We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Platform & Production Support Engineer to manage and support enterprise-grade applications and infrastructure in a 24x7 environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java application support, Linux/UNIX systems, SQL, patching, and monitoring tools like Dynatrace. A foundational understanding of ETL processes is essential to ensure seamless operations across data pipelines and batch jobs. Key Responsibilities: • Provide L1 and L2 production support for Java-based applications and backend platforms • Monitor system health and performance using Dynatrace, SiteScope, and Splunk • Investigate and resolve ETL job abends, performance bottlenecks, and system alerts • Perform root cause analysis, document findings, and implement preventive actions • Execute SQL queries for data validation, troubleshooting, and reporting • Provide hands-on support for Linux/UNIX environments, including shell scripting and log analysis • Manage patching activities across application and infrastructure layers • Support WebSphere Application Server (WAS) deployments and configurations • Coordinate certificate renewals, release deployments, and post-patching validations • Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and escalation matrices to ensure operational consistency • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and client teams to drive issue resolution and service improvements Required Skills & Qualifications • 7-8 years of experience in production support and platform engineering • Strong hands-on experience with Java application support, Linux/UNIX, and SQL • Proficient in Dynatrace, SiteScope, and Splunk for monitoring and diagnostics • Experience managing patching cycles, certificate renewals, and release coordination • Basic understanding of ETL workflows, job dependencies, and data movement • Familiarity with WAS administration and troubleshooting • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills • Ability to work independently and lead incident resolution across teams Preferred Qualifications • ITIL Foundation or equivalent certification • Experience in financial services or regulated industries • Exposure to automation tools (e.g., BigFix, Ansible) and scripting (Shell, Python)
