Director of Pharmacy in Carmel, IN

A healthcare facility in Indianapolis is seeking a Director of Pharmacy for a contract assignment from March 30, 2026, through June 30, 2026, or until permanently filled. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead pharmacy services in a behavioral health setting with a focus on regulatory compliance and operational management. Location: Indianapolis, IN Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM On-call coverage during weekdays and potentially on weekends Key Responsibilities: Oversee pharmacy operations, including staffing and medication order verification Dispense medications, including controlled substances, ensuring accuracy and safety Manage Pyxis automated dispensing cabinet systems and related automation Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state pharmacy board regulations Collaborate with leadership to maintain quality standards and support survey readiness Provide leadership support with limited tech assistance; responsible for pharmacy operations as the sole pharmacist leader Qualifications and Desired Experience: Licensed pharmacist in Indiana in good standing Inpatient pharmacy experience with strong leadership skills Experience in behavioral health pharmacy preferred Familiarity with HCS order entry and PYXIS automation systems; training available if needed Ability to work independently and manage pharmacy operations without technical support Additional Details: Training provided onsite and remotely through collaboration with the outgoing Director of Pharmacy and Assistant Directors of Pharmacy Business casual or scrubs dress code Local candidates are preferred; travel expenses will be considered for qualified candidates willing to relocate Nearest airport: Indianapolis International Airport This is a contract opportunity that requires a dedicated pharmacy leader to maintain high-quality pharmaceutical services in a behavioral health environment.
