Posting Details Position Information Posting Number NC00686 Position Title Cloud SysOps Administrator Division Administration and Finance Division Department Name Information Security Position Type Staff - Non Classified Position Overview The Cloud SysOps Administrator designs, implements, and supports the college's cloud infrastructure, focusing on Windows and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. This role manages cloud provisioning, automation, monitoring, security, and system migrations, ensuring reliable and cost-effective operations. The engineer also supports backup and disaster-recovery processes, troubleshoots cloud-dependent services, and maintains technical documentation. Strong cloud administration, server management, and problem-solving skills are essential. Primary Purpose Plan, design, implement, operate, monitor, and support technical solutions relating to all cloud services needs of the college. Essential Duties Administer cloud services and systems, primarily Windows, secondarily Linux and other systems. Build and maintain operational tools for deployment, performance, security and cost monitoring, and analysis of cloud services and systems. Plan, execute, facilitate, and/or support projects and staff relating to the transition and/or migration of non-cloud resources into cloud services, both within Information Technology Services and for other college staff and organizations. Provision, configure, monitor, and maintain cloud services and security access, both via available web-based management consoles, scripts, and automation tools. Implement and maintain operational and tools for backups and disaster recovery of on-premise systems and cloud services/resources. Produce and maintain documentation and records relevant to the areas of responsibility. Troubleshoot cloud resources and assist with troubleshooting cloud-dependent services as needed. Maintain proficiency in server administration, cloud system administration, and cloud DevOps technologies and practices. Train and supervise student employees and network/telecom technicians as assigned and assist in evaluating training needs. Assist in: Analyzing and troubleshoot all issues. Establishing and enforcing standards and procedures. Evaluating and recommending evaluate existing and future cloud technology and services with respect to their applicability to the college. Establishing best practices in all technical areas, such as system administration, cloud security, cost and performance monitoring, and cloud services. Establishing and maintaining security of all cloud services. Assessing technical needs of a department. Estimating resource requirements for developing specialized software. Occasional Duties Perform occasional duties of Senior Technical Programmer. Perform other related duties as required or as assigned by the Manager of Technical Services. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Demonstrated competence in the management of cloud collaboration platforms (such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace) and cloud services (such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services) Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Windows server/system administration; Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and fluency of data networking and data security principles and practices; Demonstrated ability to learn and use a wide variety of technologies and tools; Demonstrated ability to show initiative, leadership, and coordinate efforts where needed Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as effectively and collegially with faculty, administrators, students and colleagues. Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Experience: Minimum of six year's experience in the design, installation and maintenance of computer systems, server administration, cloud technology, SysOps/DevOps engineering of which two years' experience shall be in the area of cloud services technical support. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related field Demonstrated experience in Linux server/system administration; Demonstrated experience and fluency in networking, security, high-availability, and disaster recovery concepts as these relate to cloud platforms; Demonstrated experience in production and maintenance of technical documentation, both for internal users, as well as for external communication; Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating, and implementing technical projects and initiatives; Demonstrated experience in coordinating with vendors and other third-parties. No Environmental Conditions This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions, but requires lifting, moving, and/or installation of moderately heavy equipment (such as computers) and other related information technology components.
