APPLY ONLINE THOUGH TML JOB BOARDDescription The Parks and Facilities Maintenance Technicians maintain and care for City parks, facilities, and designated public spaces. Assist with and perform maintenance on a variety of equipment including HVAC, irrigation systems, pool equipment, and more. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Monitors and performs routine and preventative maintenance at all parks, facilities, and designated public spaces. Cleans, sanitizes, stocks, and maintains restroom facilities at all parks, facilities, and designated public spaces. Mows grass, weed-eats, edges, trims trees, and picks up brush at all parks, facilities, and designated public spaces; prune trees, shrubs, and flowers; performs seasonal landscape maintenance and cleans. Assists or performs in performing maintenance and upkeep on designated irrigation systems including repairs for valves, pipes, and sprinkler heads. Assists or performs in operating pool pumps, maintaining electrical components, plumbing, valves, and strainer baskets; monitors, keeps record, and maintains chemical levels of city pools and splash pads for water quality to meet all required health and safety standards. Assists or performs scheduled, preventative, and seasonal maintenance of all city facility HVAC systems. Assists or performs with minor carpentry, drywall, plumbing, and electrical repairs; assists with maintenance of door hardware, lighting, and other facility components. Assists the Parks and Recreation Supervisor and Communications Director in all citywide park events, including preparation, set up, operation, tear-down, and cleanup; assists the Parks & Recreation Supervisor in their duties as required. Works collaboratively with youth groups, community groups, and service organizations on the use of public parks, facilities, and spaces. Installs, maintains, removes, and stores holiday and festive decorations and lights on Main Street as required. Responds to work orders, logs and submits documentation of completed tasks or assignments to immediate supervisor; follows department policies and procedures as designated. RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Technician Level I : Parks and Facilities Maintenance Technician I Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED. Required Licenses or Certifications: Valid Texas Class C Motor Vehicle Operator License and an acceptable driving record. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification required within 6 months of hire. Technician Level II : Parks and Facilities Maintenance Technician II Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED. Two (2) years experience as a Parks and Facilities Maintenance Technician I or equivalent work. Required Licenses or Certifications: Valid Texas Class C Motor Vehicle Operator License and an acceptable driving record. Valid Texas Class B License is preferred. ONE (1) job duty relevant certification, OR 4 years experience as Technician I (or similar) Certified Maintenance Specialist (CMS) or Commercial Service Pool Technician (CST) required within 6 months of hire. Technician Level III : Parks and Facilities Maintenance Technician III Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED. Two (2) years experience as a Parks and Facilities Maintenance Technician II or equivalent work. Required Licenses or Certifications: Valid Texas Class C Motor Vehicle Operator License and an acceptable driving record. Valid Texas Class B License is preferred. TWO (2) job duty relevant certifications, OR 4 years experience as Technician II (or similar) Required Knowledge of: Purpose, function, and use of various types of manual gas and electrically powered tools, equipment, and machinery. Use and operation of landscape irrigation systems. Routine, scheduled, and preventative maintenance practices and processes for parks, lawns, and landscape. Use of good judgment and sound decision making practices in matters related to the job. Structure and process for reporting job related issues, concerns, and questions; understand the chain of command. City and department policies, procedures, and processes. Required Skill in: Consistent attendance on a regular basis and punctuality in work duties. Demonstrate initiative and diligence in the prompt and proper completion of all job tasks and duties. Practice work safety by following rules, training, and department processes, wearing protective gear, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Maintain confidentiality regarding all City business and information. Accessible, responsive, responsible, and transparent in all aspects of matters related to the job. Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, internal staff, and external entities to exchange information, address issues, or report and/or resolve problems or complaints.
