Lead High-Impact Commercial Projects - Join Scherer Construction as a Project Manager!Job Title: Project Manager - Commercial Construction Company Name: Scherer Construction Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year (depending on experience) Industry: Commercial General Contractor Location: St. Petersburg, FL (Tampa Bay Area Projects) Job Overview Scherer Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from concept through closeout. This role owns project planning, budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor management, and field coordination while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate is strategic, detail-oriented, and relationship-driven, with a proven ability to deliver ground-up commercial projects on time and within budget while representing Scherer Construction with professionalism and integrity. Key ResponsibilitiesLead the full project lifecycle including preconstruction, buyout, scheduling, execution, and closeout Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and change orders Build and maintain detailed project schedules; drive look-ahead planning with superintendents Select, negotiate, contract, and manage subcontractors and suppliers Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies Maintain proactive and professional communication with clients to foster long-term relationships Produce and manage documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, pay applications, and project reporting Coordinate closely with field teams to ensure seamless execution and issue resolution Identify risks proactively and implement solutions to maintain project performance Qualifications7-10+ years of commercial construction Project Management experience (ground-up required) Proven success delivering projects on schedule and within budget Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes, contracts, and cost controls Advanced computer proficiency, including Excel, Procore, and MS Project Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills Established network of subcontractors and industry relationships preferred Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred Professional certifications such as Associate Constructor (AC), Certified Professional Constructor (CPC), or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) are a plus Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year 401(k) with employer matching Performance-based bonus opportunities Weekly pay cycle Medical, dental, and vision insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) Paid Time Off (holidays and vacation) Travel project per diem Career development and ongoing training (OSHA, fall protection, lift training, manufacturer certifications) Company events and team outings Car allowance or mileage reimbursement Uniform provision Work ScheduleFull-time position Monday - Friday Availability for on-call project-related matters as needed Work LocationBased in St. Petersburg, FL Projects located throughout the Tampa Bay, FL area Regular local travel required for project oversight Equal Employment Opportunity We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
