Position Summary The Human Resources Intern will support the HR team through several high-impact compliance and data-management initiatives. This internship provides hands-on exposure to core HR operations while contributing directly to projects that strengthen regulatory compliance, improve data accuracy, and modernize document management processes. The intern will play a key role in I-9 audits, employee file organization, and the digitization and migration of HR records to Microsoft Teams. Primary Projects & Responsibilities I-9 Audit Support Assist with internal I-9 audits to ensure compliance with federal employment eligibility requirements Review I-9 forms for completeness and accuracy, identify discrepancies, and flag issues for HR review Support remediation efforts under HR guidance and maintain appropriate documentation standards Employee File Organization Organize and standardize employee personnel files in accordance with HR record-retention policies Ensure files are complete, properly labeled, and stored in the correct format and location Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion Digitization of Paper Files Scan, index, and digitize paper employee records into electronic formats Apply consistent naming conventions and filing structures to support easy retrieval and audit readiness Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of digitized records Electronic File Migration Assist in migrating HR files from shared network drives to Microsoft Teams Support folder structure design and file organization within Teams to improve accessibility and collaboration Validate successful migration of documents and ensure data integrity throughout the process General HR Support Provide administrative and project support to the HR team as needed Gain exposure to HR compliance, onboarding documentation, and internal HR systems Learning Outcomes Practical experience with HR compliance and federal employment documentation Exposure to HR data governance, file retention, and document management best practices Hands-on experience with Microsoft Teams and digital transformation initiatives within HR Qualifications Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Microsoft Teams is a plus Reliable, self-motivated, and able to follow structured processes Preferred Skills Interest in HR operations, compliance, or HR technology Comfortable working with both physical and electronic files Strong written and verbal communication skills Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
