Reports To: Director of Facilities / COO Location: Florida Market (Tampa, Orlando, Daytona, Jacksonville) Travel Required: Yes – Multi-site travel required Position Summary City Thrift is seeking a skilled and reliable Facilities & Maintenance Technician to support store operations across our Florida market (Tampa, Orlando, Daytona, and Jacksonville). This position is responsible for performing general repairs, fixture installation, preventative maintenance, and overseeing vendor services to ensure our stores, production rooms, and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, cost-conscious, and capable of independently diagnosing and resolving basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues while coordinating more complex repairs with third-party vendors. Key Responsibilities General Repairs & Maintenance ·         Perform routine facility repairs including drywall, painting, flooring, doors, fixtures, shelving, and equipment. ·         Repair or replace production equipment components (hanger bars, K-tables, racks, carts, grading stations, etc.). ·         Address trip hazards, safety concerns, and building deficiencies promptly. ·         Conduct regular facility inspections and maintain repair logs. Retail Fixture Installation & Repair ·         Install, assemble, modify, and repair retail fixtures including gondolas, shelving systems, hanger bars, wall standards, cash wrap counters, guardrails, safety barriers, backroom storage shelving, signage, and display fixtures. ·         Reconfigure sales floor layouts to support merchandising initiatives. ·         Ensure all fixtures are secure, level, and compliant with safety standards. ·         Support new store openings, remodels, and fixture resets. ·         Evaluate fixture wear and recommend replacements when necessary. Electrical (Basic) ·         Troubleshoot and replace lighting fixtures and ballasts. ·         Install and relocate outlets, switches, and minor wiring (as permitted by code). ·         Coordinate licensed electricians for major electrical projects. ·         Ensure proper lighting levels in production and retail areas. Plumbing (Basic) ·         Repair leaks, replace faucets, unclog drains, and address restroom maintenance. ·         Replace water heaters or coordinate vendor repair when necessary. ·         Ensure plumbing systems are functioning and code-compliant. HVAC (Basic) ·         Perform filter changes and basic diagnostics. ·         Identify performance issues and coordinate with HVAC vendors. ·         Monitor HVAC systems to ensure consistent climate control in stores and production areas. Preventative Maintenance & Vendor Management ·         Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules across all locations. ·         Manage relationships with vendors (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, etc.). ·         Obtain multiple bids for projects when appropriate. ·         Review invoices for accuracy and scope compliance. ·         Ensure vendors meet safety and quality standards. ·         Track maintenance expenses and support budget discipline. Market Support ·         Travel regularly between Tampa, Orlando, Daytona, and Jacksonville markets. ·         Support store managers with facility needs and maintenance planning. ·         Assist with new store openings, remodels, and production room reconfigurations. ·         Respond to urgent repair needs in a timely manner. Qualifications ·         3–7+ years of general maintenance or facilities experience. ·         Demonstrated experience installing and repairing retail fixtures and shelving systems. ·         Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC troubleshooting. ·         Experience in retail, warehouse, or multi-site environments preferred. ·         Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read basic layout diagrams. ·         Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical tasks. ·         Valid driver’s license with clean driving record. ·         Ability to travel between markets as required. ·         Strong organizational and communication skills. ·         Budget-conscious mindset with attention to cost control. Preferred Skills ·         Trade certifications (electrical, HVAC, plumbing) are a plus. ·         OSHA safety knowledge. ·         Experience managing preventative maintenance programs. ·         Experience coordinating contractors and reviewing scopes of work. ·         Experience with store resets, fixture rollouts, and merchandising layout execution. Work Environment Multi-site retail and warehouse production environment. Combination of indoor and outdoor work. Frequent travel required within the Florida market. Some early morning or after-hours work may be required to avoid store disruption. Success Metrics ·         Reduction in emergency repair incidents. ·         On-time completion of preventative maintenance tasks. ·         Vendor cost control and invoice accuracy. ·         Minimal store downtime due to facility issues. ·         Safe, professional installation and maintenance of all retail fixtures. · Improved safety compliance across all stores.
