About the Facility: VA Portland Health Care System The VA Portland Health Care System provides comprehensive medical services to veterans in Oregon and Southwest Washington, offering primary care, specialty care, mental health services, rehabilitation, and advanced treatments. Fourth Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98661 Ultrasound Technologist RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) T he Interventional Radiology Tech will independently operate equipment to perform a variety of complex sonographic examinations ranging from routine to highly specialized. Will review requisitions to ensure that the patient history and anatomical area of interest is consistent with the exam(s) requested. The spectrum of examinations performed includes the abdomen for tumors, cysts, abscesses, hematomas, inflammatory lesions, and the size and location of organs. Evaluations of the abdominal aorta for aneurysm and/or dissection, and chest exams for pleural effusions will also be performed. Neck, carotid artery, leg vein, and artery examinations will also be conducted. The MIT will also assist radiologists during invasive procedures and perform all types of gynecological ultrasound exams. Additionally, the MIT will perform quantitative Doppler measurements to determine blood flow profiles when indicated. MIT will also know the appropriate use of color flow/power Doppler to further evaluate areas for vascular patency/pattern. Ultrasound Technologist REQUIREMENTS Must be registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Abdomen/Small Parts and at least two separate certifications, such as RVT, OB/GYN, Muscular Skeletal, etc; Must have a BCLS certification and demonstrate expertise in ultrasounds of scrotum, pelvis and U/S guided biopsy, including liver and renal biopsies of native and transplanted organs, renal artery stenosis and renal Doppler. Must have a minimum 3 years of hospital experience within the United States. Must have worked within a hospital setting as an Ultrasound Tech in the last six months. Provide evidence of current professional liability insurance. Be available to work for the VA at least six (6) months after starting date. Must have worked within a hospital lab setting as a Vascular Ultrasound Tech in the last six months.
